Kneeler Says NFL Siphoning From Breast Cancer, Military Donations to Social Justice Causes $89M
Breitbart ^ | 12-1-2017 | Daniel J Flynn

The NFL’s $89 million pledge to fund social-justice causes comes at the expense of the league’s support for breast cancer and military charities, the protesting-player kneeling for the national anthem longer than any other active athlete claims.

“In the discussion that we had, Malcolm [Jenkins] conveyed to us—based on discussions that he had with the NFL—that the money would come from funds that are already allocated to breast cancer awareness and Salute to Service,” San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid told Slate. “So it would really be no skin off the owners’ backs: They would just move the money from those programs to this one.”

Reid’s disgust over the deal led to his resignation from the Players Coalition, a group started by Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins and retired wide receiver Anquan Boldin. Reid departed from the group along with Miami Dolphins safety Michael Thomas, who, like Reid, continues to kneel for the national anthem.

Reid says Jenkins and the Players Coalition leadership went rogue in agreeing to a deal that did not receive the blessing of the group’s members. “We didn’t agree with that,” he told Slate, “because we weren’t trying to cut other worthy programs.”

Reid speculates that the pressure exerted on Jenkins to accept the deal came about because of Roger Goodell’s contract negotiations. The NFL commissioner, who seeks a lucrative new deal, endures criticism that jeopardizes that deal from Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones for his mishandling of the on-field protests. The agreement with players, Reid speculates, helps Goodell make a deal with the owners.

Reid, who joined then-teammate Colin Kaepernick in refusing to rise for the national anthem in 2016, tells Slate, contrary to the NFL’s claims, the league did view their much-discussed financial pledge as a quid pro quo to get players

Why should it be skin off the owners’ backs? They’re already seeing lower income from this brouhaha. If the kneelers are so damned committed, let them pay the money.

The reduction in breast cancer awareness funding should just delight the casual female NFL fan.

Sometimes it’s easy to read between the lines. Reid is saying that the agreement didn’t stick it to the owners — who made him a millionaire — enough.

If I’m an NFL owner in this present climate, I’m getting out of the game. Like tomorrow. This BS is just going to get worse.

Isn’t it interesting there is no player dissent concerning this protest? Where are the players, tired of being boo’d in their home stadiums, speaking up for what’s right? Are they afraid of the other players or the league?

Exactly. And good luck getting private or taxpayer funding for new stadiums.

Be sure to remind everyone you see wearing an NFL team shirt/garment.

The new, and unforgivable social faux pauxs ...

...wearing nfl ANYTHING...

(Or going to a game, or buying sponsors' products, or allowing an nfl game to be broadcast or dvr'd in your home or biz)

Take back your Sundays (and Mon and Thurs evenings)!

You will never see another new football stadium. As stadiums start aging, they will implode them and pro teams will share college fields. And players will make 1/10 the money.

Never let a half-cocked, stupid, and cowardly deed by NFL owners go unpunished.

Everything is sacrificed to black social justice including breasts and the military. The cultural line is there with the NFL.Crossing it is siding with the enemy.

They have families to support who expect an NFL salary, and it’s not worth the trouble of dissent, which would instantly be met with cries of racism?

This whole thing must really gall the NFL players who are conservative Republicans and probably don’t feel free to talk about it.

Wearing a Patriots jersey around New England used to be a friendly way to strike up a conversation with anyone, regardless of politics; now, you’ll just feel like a putz. NO WAY....

Just insane how completely clueless they’ve shown themselves to be. It’s not just the kneeling; real football fans are tired of ANY political crap being injected into the game. The first team that makes an announcement along the lines of, “We play football. We leave politics to the politicians” becomes “America’s Team” instantly.

It’s like Obama was never President for 8 years with all this continued #BLM nonsense — give it (and America) a break. Who’s buying this Kabuki theater?
