I would have hated to be the monitors that had to sit and watch those babies die and not be able to do anything. They said that Jasper brought food to them, but he, as a barn owl, had no brood patch and no clue how to sit on them to keep them warm.

They don’t know what happened to Didi as of now. It’s a terrible loss. I checked the nest yesterday morning, but you could only see 2 of the little ones. The others were too tiny and were under Didi. :(

I’ve read a lot of the chat and read that Jasper had been in with food but didn’t know what to do. It’s too bad owls aren’t like so many other birds that both parents brood and feed.

I checked in last night and noticed Didi wasn’t on the nest but didn’t read any of the chat at the time. I just thought she’d stepped out for a sec to stretch her legs and wings.

Jasper was sitting outside a little while ago, in view of the LO cam but he flew up into the tree out of sight. Poor feller seems lost without Didi.

I wonder if they’ll ever discover what happened.
