The NFL and a group of players reached an agreement in principle late Wednesday night to partner on a plan to address social justice issues considered important to African-American communities, ESPN has learned.
The unprecedented agreement calls for the league to contribute nearly $100 million over seven years to projects dealing with criminal justice reform, law enforcement/community relations and education.
During a conference call Wednesday night, Malcolm Jenkins and Anquan Boldin, who lead roughly 40 players who have negotiated with the league office about demonstrations during the national anthem, guided the group through the highlights of the package, which represents the NFL's largest contribution to a social issue, surpassing that of Salute to Service or Breast Cancer Awareness/Crucial Catch.
The partnership came a day after some players broke away from the Players Coalition because of their dissatisfaction with how Jenkins and Boldin have handled negotiations. Commissioner Roger Goodell, believing that an agreement was at hand, was furious when ESPN reported that players were breaking off, according to one source. But during an afternoon call, Jenkins asked that the commissioner and the owners continue to stand with the players and allow them to do important work in the community.
The agreement does not include language calling for players to end protests during the national anthem in exchange for funds; there's no implicit quid pro quo. But the NFL hopes this effort will effectively end the peaceful yet controversial movement that former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick started in 2016, when he refused to stand for the anthem.

No... it won't, and fans will continue to stay away. The death of the NFL is in the future; the only question is whether that future is a near or far one.
Nice little $100 million dollar shakedown.
Spit.
Shows just how damned racist and segregationist the NFL really is. RATHER than hire more black people for jobs in the offices (which is part of the protest) they’d rather write a $100,000,000 payoff check to make this all go away.
$100,000,000 vs jobs for black people.
Answer: Racist NFL
Flat-track Harleys!
Just how big of a dirt track oval could you get inside a typical stadium?
Anyone that still watches this is either extremely blissfully unaware, or they don’t mind contributing to the downfall of their country.
How about giving $100 million to start an anti-gang violence campaign? Make gangstas out the be the low life sc*mbag mo fos they are instead of allowing them to be propped up as heroes by Democrap party who invite them to the white house like crack dealer and twice attempted murderer Jay Z or honor their mother like the mother of Michael Brown at the DNC? Yeah those poor oppressed gangstas and those evil cops. I’ve am so through with the NFL it ain’t funny.
Exactly, pro-football is finished, this is it’s death knell, it will never ever recover. The thugs have taken over and they have just screwed themselves royally.
Just fire them.
A game of balls has none.
It’s like watching the Israeli dorm being invaded by Muslims in the 70s. You are watching it live and cannot believe it.
For years business schools used the Coke decision to switch to New Coke as an example of what can happen even when on paper it seems like the obvious thing to do.
The decision by the NFL to do this I believe will be used to counter that Coke mistake perfectly in business schools now.
Here you have a corporation KNOWINGLY going against its own bottom line by doing this and turning away its customer base by a massive percentage. Coke did it to increase sales and compete against Pepsi, a simple smart business decision that SHOULD have been well received by its customer base. Of course no one took into account the nostalgia effect that sank it like a rock, they were as shocked as anyone when the sales figures started rolling in.
Here you have the NFL doing exactly the opposite, making a decision knowing it is going against the wishes of its fan base hoping to drive its sales back up. Sheer and utter lunacy by their board thinking this will appease both sides and bring the fattened calf back to the table.
Watching this unfold is fascinating.
I’m trying to figure out exactly how they are going to use the $100M to stop black guys from impregnating girls out of wedlock. That is the only thing that is going to fix the problem in the black community. Free vasectomies in the ghettos?
Then I am over the nfl for good. There is nothing they can do now to win me back as a fan.
Are you kidding me?! These losers aren't going to pony up one dime to help these beloved "causes" they claim to care about.
Black Ball is now exposed as a political propaganda tool to replace the failed Black Lives Matter effort
Given the leftist corruption of nonprofits and churches and of course the media, with the invention of Black Ball, there is no institution safe from the leftists . The remedy is war
Here in northern Alberta, many people are getting away from the big stores and corporations and buying from local sources. We have the ability to make anything we need.
I think we’ll see a comeback of small family business as these other guys keep shooting themselves in the foot.
Right now, many of those seats are sold to season ticket holders that bought them before this nonsense spread. Wait til next year when the season ticket holders find something else to do with that money.
The agreement calls for national funds to be allocated accordingly: 25 percent to the United Negro College Fund; 25 percent to Dream Corps; and 50 percent to the Players Coalition, which has filed 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) paperwork for nonprofit status as a fiscally sponsored project. This week, the coalition hired The Hopewell Fund to oversee and advise the group, which hopes to work with grass-roots and nonprofit organizations.

The average span of an NFL career is something like 4-5 years, right? The league will survive that long. So these players aren’t shooting themselves in the foot - largely they’ll be gone by the time the real damage takes root.
Like the good liberals they are, they’re shooting the future in the foot.
In other words, full employment for liberals with worthless college degrees.
This is about the worst thing they could do if they want to win back us boycotters.
I’m so old I remember when the NFL was about football games.
