Philadelphia, PA - Philadelphia councilwoman Cindy Bass has introduced a controversial bill that would require business owners to take down any bulletproof glass they have in their businesses, and not allow future installation.
The bill, known as the Stop and Go bill, is moving through city hall, and reads "No establishment shall erect or maintain a physical barrier."
Broad Deli is a local business on the corner of the 2200 block of North Broad. It has a wall of bulletproof glass separating its employees from customers.
"The most important thing is safety and the public's safety," Rich Kim, the owner of Broad Deli, told WTXF. His family has run the deli, which sells soda, snacks, meals, and beer by the can, for 20 years.
Kim said that he had the bulletproof glass installed after a shooting, and that it saved his mother-in-law from a knife attack.
"If the glass comes down, the crime rate will rise and there will be lots of dead bodies," he said

I recall after the LA riots Korean business owners protested local government foot-dragging on the steps of LA City Hall. City employees used the occasion to drop whatever solid objects from their offices they could find onto the Korean shop owners. Something about this Philly story reminded me of that LA story.
Nah...not really...you just haven't been robbed and had your ass shot off by every third customer.
Try to run one of these stores in one of these Dindu Nuffin neighborhoods...without the precautions.
After the third robbery, if you're still alive, you'll be putting up twice what the one you were in had.
I know...I've had to spend some time in E.St.Louis, Chicago, the ghetto of KC...a few other places.
I don't blame them a damned bit.
Glass installations aren’t cheap. Is she going to reimburse those businesses the cost of their installations under the former lack of a law? If not, I would sue her.
Stupidity is infinite in government.
When you think you’ve seen the dumbest thing ever, someone comes along to prove you wrong!
They are primarily in the business of selling cheap 40 oz. cans of high-alcohol malt liquor to black men and she’s trying to drive them out.
So.....these black men will now have to go farther afield to get their malt liquor?
L
No, she doesn’t need to. Like I said, many of these black city councilmen or aldermen don’t live in the very area they represent.
I remember when Banks didn’t have Bulletproof Glass, back when I worked for a Bank.
Of course this isn’t surprising considering Democrats have no problem taking away a person’s Right to self defense using a Firearm.
Then take them out of the police vehicles as well. Fair is fair!
Perhaps these business owners could band together and buy several billboards with the nice lady’s pic and home address on it....
How are guns banned? PA is a Shall Issue state.
