Senators Bob Corker (R-TN) and Jeff Flake (R-AZ) are demanding that the tax reform bill include a trigger that automatically raises taxes in the future if tax receipts fall below projections.
This is a bad idea. Raising taxes is never a good policy, but this provision also adds complexity and uncertainty to the tax code that will limit its impact on economic growth.
Bob Corker and Jeff Flake want people to believe they're concerned about the deficit, but if that were true they would not have supported so many bills to increase the debt limit and increase spending.
If there is going to be a budget trigger, shouldn't it automatically cut spending which is the real problem in Washington?
The tax trigger should be rejected and the tax rates in the bill for individuals should be lowered so no American, regardless of where they live, has to pay higher taxes.
As we mentioned before, we also believe that any side deal to allow for the passage of health insurance company bailouts should be categorically rejected. This is something Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) promised the moderates in the Senate and it's a bad idea.
The only way to make health coverage more affordable is to repeal Obamacare's benefit mandates, which have forced Americans to buy things they don't want...
Since when has these two jackasses ever worried about the deficit
If these two Senators were real conseervatives, they would be pushing a trigger to cut spending, not raise taxes.
Thanks JimRob!
Hi guy. I trust you are doing well.
Where were Bob Corker and Jeff Flake when 0bama was doubling the national debt?
I’ll tell you where they were. Performing fallatio on 0bama and Harry Reid.

Blue language here for those bastiges
I find it funny that not a single one of these putrid crooks were concerned in the least about the deficit whenever obama wanted another trillion dollar debt increase. They were eager to “keep the government operating and being responsible...”
This is the usual political payback from these America hating leftist.
These idiots think we're idiots.
Typical Corker. He loves to put things on autopilot so as to avoid taking responsibility for hard decisions. Cf., e.g., the Corker Capitulation on Iran.
Have budget agreements (Executive to agency rather than Congressional to Agency) every quarter, allow for quarterly burn and make them come back every quarter for adjustments and additional expenditures.
Stop this allocating money then the agency has to use it or lose it type budgeting. Of course they’re always going to use it, and create private slush funds in the process.
No one ever suggests that the government roll back spending if revenues decline. Wonder why? (not really)
The 10-year limit on the individual tax cuts is obviously not enough for Nevertrumper RINOs Corker and Flake. Since they and Trump are at each other throats, I can only believe that this crap is in part personal.
Flake and Corker are BOTH poison pills.
ONLY more MAGA will rid this great nation of such evil.
This needs to be emailed, FB’d, tweeted, faxed, etc to EVERY R Senator and to Kevin Brady/Lyin Ryan.
We’re sick and tired of these charades and games.
Pass the D@MN Tax Reform Bill, you inept leaches!!
How about a counter trigger. If tax receipts come in above projections, the surcharge on income above a million gets dropped, and the top bracket gets a cut.
According to history, tax cuts lead to increased total tax revenue because of the growth in the economy caused by the tax cuts. Maybe if we “agreed” to a tax raise that will not happen we could get it done.
Don’t fall for the twisted libtard fake news propaganda published in fake news sources like bloomberg.
And another thing. How about “automatic triggers” that defund programs or departments that fail. There is so much wasted spending in DC they would need fully automatic triggers.
Can we at least send Corker over to retrieve the $30 billion he and Obama donated to the mullahs?
I knew they’d find a way to kill it. Thought they’d have the sand to actually vote against it, but they’re taking the coward’s way out by baking a poison pill into the bill. Now they can vote against tax cuts/reform and say they were standing on principle.
“It will be interesting to note who in the GOP comes out to blast Corker and Flake for insisting on a tricky maneuver to raise taxes. My guess is nobody will. And that tells you more than their fake votes will. “
Make the trigger that the only tax that will be affected by this is the tax rate for corporations will go back to 35%.
