Haven’t watched the GRAMMYS since, well, since, uh, well, EVER!.......................
I don’t give a flying rip about any of them.
Modern music stinks.
And much of "popular music" is deconstruction and protest of the traditional. I think that Lady Gaga might have been "snubbed" when people realized, "Hey, she's really got talent, and it's not all about hype!" Seriously, when I first saw her perform, I was thinking, "OK, Dale Bozzio did that in Missing Persons back in the 80s," and just dismissed her. However, I caught a bit of her performance at an awards show, where she was singing Julie Andrews' "Sound of Music," and I realized just how wrong I was, and what an incredible voice she really has. You can find her singing on YouTube, no music, no "auto-tune," and she's amazing. Her performances with Tony Bennett on jazz standards is something amazing.
That certainly explains the rejections my the inteligencia.

In an earlier posting, I mentioned just how shocked I was when I realized how talented Lady Gaga is. You might check out the YouTube videos of her performing a tribute to Julie Andrews, and her duets with Tony Bennett.

Never watched any music award shows myself. I like music, but mostly from the Big Band era, the 50’s and 60’s, zydeco music (Beausoleil), movie soundtracks, Irish ballads (Gaelic Storm) , baroque and medieval music. Throw in some Civil War music (97th regimental string band), Led Zeppelin, Johnny Mathis, and Christmas songs and carols from the 40’s and 50’s. There’s nothing in today’s music that I find enjoyable. I was sitting in an IHOP yesterday listening to Christmas music, and there’s something special about being able to identify the artist singing it. They played Bing Crosby’s “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” and it brought tears to my eyes as I recalled the Christmases of my youth in the 50’s.
The first fifty comments on this thread remind me of things said around the dinner table by my parents in 1955. They were talking about Rock and Roll - that negro music.
They're IEMs, or "In Ear Monitors."
Especially on larger stages, it's hard for performers to hear the other performers and vocals. It's also to allow personal mixes for the performers and eliminates a lot of monitor speakers scattered around the stage, which can also cause feedback.

I’m 41 years old and I cannot recall ever watching any awards show.
If you haven’t heard his band, check out Rob McConnell & The Boss Brass. He was my father’s favorite.

TRUTH? They wouldn't know the truth if it bit them on the tuchus! "Hands up, don't shoot"- lie. White cops killing inordinate numbers of innocent blacks- lie. Workplace discrimination rampant- lie. Whitey's fault for the 70+% illegitimacy rate in the black community- lie. No jobs- lie. Poor education because of lack of funding in black schools- lie. Add as many of your own as you wish.
Actually, according to Leftist, there are only two - "People of Color" and the "White Privileged Oppressors".
[Note: journalists, liberal politicians and leftist academicians not included in the latter - they are all 'above the fray']

my advice is to not watch any rewards shows....they are full of leftists America hating jerks....even country...
Same with "southern pop".
Everybody remembers "southern rock" from the 70's. Bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker Band, etc... These were all rock bands who sang with a southern accent and "countried up" classic rock music.
The music they play on "country music" stations is really just "southern pop". It is just pop music sung with a southern accent and "countried up" a little bit to make it sound different.
While I was a huge fan of "southern rock" because I was also a fan of classic rock music, I'm not a fan of "southern pop" because I don't like regular pop music.
For contemporary "country music" see...
