It is not Star Trek. It is a JJ Abrams nightmare version.
Basically if it was beloved in the original Star Trek they will squash it in the new series. Not a single person you like. Think the newer Battlestar Gallatica series.
The Orville is not either but a Seth Macfarlane series in space. It just has brighter sets.
Both series have gay characters and want you to know it.
Think about the old Dr. Who sets and effects, I can only say Cheesy, but the stories were good and so were the actors.

It’s a classic 60’s artifact, the uniforms, the sets, the colors, the retro-futurism, the spacey theremin music, far out man. What’s not to love? Of course it’s a little cheezy but that’s part of the charm. They were stylishly cheezy at the time, at least.
He ain’t the only one. Dude’s an epic-level douche.
