Donald Trump's attacks on broadcaster CNN are an "an outrageous assault" on freedom of speech, according to former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) director Michael Hayden.
If this is who we are or who we are becoming, I have wasted 40 years of my life, the former spy chief, who now works as a national security analyst for the broadcaster, said in a Twitter post.
General Hayden, who is also a former director of the National Surveillance Agency (NSA), added: "Until now it was not possible for me to conceive of an American President capable of such an outrageous assault on truth, a free press or the first amendment."

National Surveillance Agency?
No ... that's not what it's called.
There must be an open billet for a high level officer of his caliber to monitor latrine usage at the bunkers along the Korean DMZ.
Did anyone get a look at his feet? Is he wearing his boot, yet?
Another Swamp Critter speaks! And, no one listens!
Toeing the company line!
Ha! Well played.
“He has no clue about life as a regular citizen in this great country. Another Pampered Prince.”
I agree. Personally, I think it would be much easier for someone from ‘real’ life outside of government to do his job, than it would be for him to make his way outside of government - without using his previous years in government as a link to a job ‘consulting’ or lobbying.
National Security Agency (NSA)
National Surveillance Agency (NSA)
No Such Agency (NSA)
No ... that's not what it's called.
It's the Independent and a nosy Brit broad, they haven't the slightest idea what words mean and they're used to a surveillance camera on every lamppost. Security isn't in their nature.
He seems to be saying that criticism of the media (which I thought was a part of ‘free speech’) somehow violates ‘freedom of the press’. Reminds me of the opinion of a failed presidential candidate who said that the lesson of 1984 “is a warning to us to avoid mistrusting the people we need to rely on: our leaders, the press, experts
This is why the swamp needs draining.
Even more, they expect the President to go along with all the fake news that they spew. They are ill-accustomed to a President showing independence, and actually attempting to discharge his duties in a manner consistent his oath of office.
And apparently, the taxpayers wasted 40 years of payroll costs.
GREAT CATCH!!!
Apparently this feces nozzle was asleep during Obama’s attacks on Fox News.
And just how can we be reassured of his past patriotism? He may have been in his own swamp all these years.
> "Until now it was not possible for me to conceive of an American President capable of such an outrageous assault taking a courageous stand on truth, against a free fake press or that lies using the first amendment."
If you ain’t taking flak you ain’ over the target. President Trump is directly over the target. Hayden knows exactly the extent to which the Obama administration used the NSA (he was part of the NSA at the time) to spy on Americans for mere political purposes. Hayden and his ilk are feeling the heat. They are about to be revealed for the political scum they are while all the time posing as honorable public s servants. He has a chest full of service ribbons and they may become meaningless. This would be a travisty for a retired military guy.
So NSA is now the National Surveillance Agency? Well, at least that’s truth in labelling...finally.
The taxpayers have wasted 40 years of salary on this clown.
