This was posted here a couple of days ago - I tried asking the same questions to my Amazon Echo (there is no such product as "Amazon Alexa"). It did not give any of these answers.

They are obviously using their own application running on the Echo. The Echo's wake word is "Alexa", not "OK Alexa".

Just so I understand; you’re saying they were using it wrong? They should have been saying “Echo” to get its attention or is that the right way to let it know you’re talking to it and expect a reply?

That video was enough to tell me I will never have one of those things in my home but of course others are free to do as they please. Too much like big brother going on with it if it’s always listening in. Who else might be listening? Of course the same could be said for any cell phone I suppose.

No, it isn't. The first thing anyone does when they install the Echo is to ask it a bunch of questions. When I got mine back in 2015, I asked it what the Fine Structure Constant was, who won the last Super Bowl and who several historical figures were, including Jesus Christ. I don't remember if the definition it gave me then was the same as it gives me now, but it most certainly did not say that Jesus was a fictional character.

I tried it again a couple of days after hearing this story to see if it had changed to now say what Crowder claims. It doesn't. And it didn't when I bought it over two years ago. I don't know who Crowder is, but I see him giggling ridiculously on his video and I'll trust my own ears over him.

Oh but every family “needs” one to help students with homework, haven’t you heard? Students can just ask questions to learn and Alexa will “educate them.” Plus, Alexa listens to the family conversation in case you address her. Therefore, police ended up requesting recordings from Alexa to help solve a murder. Isn’t that great? In EVERY home, a listening device on a Google platform that “educates” the populace and can hear what you are saying 24/7. WONDERFUL! Even better, Kindle devices that didn’t have Alexa were passively upgraded to HAVE Alexa. We must ALL have Alexa 24/7. Without Alexa, we might think wrong thoughts!
