The Archbishop of Canterbury says he doesn't understand why so many Christians in the U.S. support President Donald Trump. Justin Welby told ITV's Preston on Sunday program that he "really genuinely" can't comprehend why fundamentalists have provided such a strong base for Trump.

The Archbishop would also be surprised that many Episcopalians and American Anglicans voted for and support President Trump. The people in the pews are much different from the top tiers.

How well I remember how moved I was at Bishop Chartres’ words to Kate and William, and also his moving address at Margaret Thatcher’s funeral. You are well spoken in saying he should have been Archbishop. The C of E is another swamp in need of draining over there.
