Wednesday on ABC’s “Powerhouse Politics” podcast, 2016 Democratic presidential candidate and former Gov. Martin O’Malley (D-MD) said former President Barack Obama’s decision to set up Organizing for America rather than “infusing” his energy into the Democratic Party devastated the party on state and local levels like a “bad forest fire.”
O’Malley said, “To put it kindly, President Obama decided to set up a separate political organization rather than infusing that energy of his candidacy and his amazing and historic victory, rather than infusing that energy into the veins of the Democratic party and making the Democratic party new and more energetic, instead the president and his people decided to set up a separate organization in ‘Organizing for America,’ OFA. I guess the president, perhaps and his people, thought their roles in history was to transform us, allow all of to transcend beyond the need for political parties. ”
He continued, “So when the Republicans and their small group of very wealthy donors, who are not afraid to write big checks, saw what was happening, they immediately filled that vacuum. And in a very methodical way, fielded candidates with a whole lot of money to run for state senate, state legislators, backed candidates for governor. And they were able to wipe us out at the state level and increasingly at the local level. We’ve never gone through a period of time, at least not in modern history were the Democratic party lost so many seats and so many governors offices even as our president was a Democratic. That was a mistake that we made. We have to learn from that mistake. And I believe what is happening now is the party is regenerating itself, almost like after a bad forest...

If O’Malley had been ballsy enough to say that at the start of the last campaign, he may have become more than another historical note of failure. His chance at the big time may have already passed.

Obama was not truly a Democrat although he used the Democratic Party as a vehicle to further his political ambitions because labeling himself as a Communist or Socialist would not be an easy sell to voters.
Those selling Obama, like the Red Diaper Baby, David Axelrod, went to great lengths to cover up his associations with far out leftists, Communists and Socialists.
Now that he is finished with electoral politics as a candidate, Barack Obama does not give a damn for the party that he hijacked.
For once, Marty Boy is right.
Org for America is just Obama’s Clinton Foundation. He may be lazy, but he isnt completely stupid. Foundations are where the tax free money is at.
The sheer greed of the Clinton’s and the Obama’s will cause serious money and organizing issues for the Dems, for a while.
Learn from their mistake? They can’t truth to learn from it, as in that statement; it wasn’t R $$ that won races, it was the electorate being sick of rats. What’s he think of Soros, I wonder.

There were no wealthy donors donating to the Tea Party. Neither did the RNC, the NRSC, or the NRCC helped. It was purely the strength of middle America, the grassroots.
O'Malley just can't say it. The Democrat's ideology is poisonous to America and that's why the Dems lost over 1,000 seats. Yet, they still cling to this ridiculous narrative that Republicans are beholden to wealthy donors. Maybe the establishment Republicans are, but not the candidates supported by the grassroots.
He’s admitting that Obama was a disaster and put it very well.

As usual. It always comes back on Republicans as being the root cause of all that ails us.

Short memory. Slick Willy became the first President to lose both the House AND Senate in his first mid-term election. He also lost governors and state houses during his entire term.
-He instituted socialized medicine in this country and permanently enshrined it.
-He legalized gay marriage, made it so there is no significant opposition to it, an made it so anyone who disagrees will justifiably be harassed for it. The overwhelming number support LGBT and are against those who don't.
-He made it so American are not really that into tax cuts anymore.
-He made it so Christianize is no longer a force in America.
-He defeated conservatism as a force in U.S. politics.
He made it so pot will be legalized in the U.S., and eventually the majority will have to take it. So there will be no opposition to socialism.
He did more than any Democrat could have hoped for in 2008. The only thing he didn't do is ban guns. That is coming.
The Clintons and their cronies probably would have sabotaged BHO in 2008 just like they did to Bernie if he didn’t have his own organization of fellow travelers from the Chicago cesspool.
