Atheist group files lawsuit over ‘unconstitutional’ pet blessings at animal shelter

A New Jersey animal shelter’s annual pet blessings has prompted a federal lawsuit by a group called American Atheists Inc. of Cranford.
The Bergen County Animal Shelter is accused of violating the First and 14th amendments of the U.S. Constitution over two events held in 2016 and 2017. Each event featured a member of the Franciscan Order of the Divine Mercy in North Arlington.
Plaintiffs say that animal blessings at the facility are tantamount to an endorsement of religion. They seek an injunction to stop the annual event, and legal fees.

Is anyone in the shelter a member of Congress trying to pass a law? Then it’s Constitutional.

True atheists wouldn’t care about this issue. Only those who worship a different god would care. The so-called atheists of the left are religious fanatics, demand that we all worship the same god as they do.

It’s time to run this issue up to SCOTUS and get a new ruling on the “establishment” clause. I suspect we might get a different outcome.

With one exception, the atheists I know have no problems with people of faith and respect the right of people of faith to practice as they see fit.
But journos never seem to find atheists like that. Just this kind.

It is time to stop answering these lawsuits and start telling the judicial branch to get f@cked!
It is high time the congress and executive branch reassert its’ power over the weakest of the three coequal branches and pass legislation eliminating Marlborough VS Madison. The first of many unconstitutional rulings by the government, black robed, tyrant lawyers.
