I think that political power has perverted many Representatives & Senators. I think we need to refocus political office to emphasize public service. To serve. They seem to develop delusions of grandeur.
Eliminate expense funds, retirement and cut salaries to hourly wages. Only paid for days/nights when congress is in session.
Serving as a representative or senator should not be a career choice. Term limits & people need to have other employment.
My father-in-law was a representative in Springfield IL and the stories I heard from him were pure disgusting. Part of the problem seemed to be that the legislators were away from their families and alone at night. Well, they were supposed to be alone at night. Maybe a very large apartment complex so that families can join their congressional husbands/wives during the week. And keep an eye on them!
