LaVar doesn’t understand...when you try to heckle the guy with the microphone, the guy with the microphone always wins.

“Ungrateful fool” is exactly right.
Trump always wins these twitter kerfuffles because what he says is just correct, and people see that it is correct. The media pretends to be outraged, but everyone recognizes that the media is just uncomfortable with the concept of Truth.

Yep, that’s pretty much it. That’s why his nicknames work too.

LaVar is helping Trump, though unintentional lying.
This is something flashy and Blinky that the media will understand and love, meanwhile Trump can continue doing things of substance behind the scenes.

LaVar Ball gets enormous amounts of free publicity and name recognition out of this and grows his "Big Baller Brand" of athletic shoes - no advertising agency in the world could give him this much exposure in the national and international media, and even trying would cost him millions. He's getting this all for free, and his net profit from Trump's attention is going to be huge. If Ball wasn't grateful to Trump for getting his son out of jail in China, he should be eternally grateful for the enormous service Trump is doing him by paying attention to him. The Kardashians must be tearing their hair out with envy at this point.
It's hard to see what Trump gets out of this - there are far more worthy targets for the attention of the POTUS.

If you haven’t read Scott Adams’ take on why Trump’s approach works, you really should. If you go back in his blog to Summer of 2016 and then move forward, you’ll get the gist pretty quickly. Though he called it much earlier, saw something happening way back in 2015. As did Herman Cain, by the way.

Don King has 1,000 times more class than this moron.
Not a valid comparison, Mr. President.

What's amazing to me is that 6'5" black basketball players didn't think that they would stand out in a Chinese store.
Were they trying to blend?
I'm sorry but that level of utter cluelessness deserves some jail time.

‘Yep, thats pretty much it. Thats why his nicknames work too.’
______________________________________________
He is a very intelligent man. I’m sure he doesn’t spend hours tweeting; he is able to form a quick thought and send it out, then get on to other matters.
His nicknames are absolutely perfect. They capture the essence of the person in two words or so. And they are memorable.
This ungrateful father really didn’t understand what he was getting into.
