Think “public utilities” that need to be regulated like your electric company. Today our major ISPs are public utilities. Unlike the days of dial up when you had a million ISPs in America. I was with a small one.

TODAY I am in an urban area but ATT is so effed up here that I must deal with Comcast. Ten years ago ATT was competitive w Comcast in my location.

With lots of cord cutting going on and new options for getting channels like Showtime & HBO....Through Amazon for example......

With the demise of net neutrality companies like Comcast will be able to really stick it to their high speed internet customers to make up for revenue loss on their TV operations.

The internet did just fine without Govt regulation up until a couple years ago, when Obama created NN. Now Google et al have unlimited license to censor, and no one can tell them “We’re not going to publish your biased garbage.”

Yes, I know the difference between an ISP and a content provider. So, why did the content providers lobby so heavily to make sure no one could refuse their content, and then turn around and censor whatever they don’t like?

Dude, stop. Please do some research about this. Net neutrality refers to a basic aspect of how the internet is set up. It’s not a just law made up by Obama. You still don’t grasp what NN is. You certainly don’t grasp the implications of ending it.

I’ve had this explained to me well today and I have come to the same conclusion. This is one rare instance where the government should have some control. Some of the time, Government is occupied by good guys. It’s important to not allow monopoly companies to control our access and who is allowed or can afford to engage in the online world at good speeds.

For once I’m more afraid of big companies than the government. My top priority is freedom for the internet user.

Net neutrality is a better bet toward freedom. It needs to stay.

Let’s make this crystal: Net neutrality is what we’ve always had. Obama didn’t create it. Neither did Bush or even Gore (lol). Net Neutrality ensures that liberal ISPs don’t put a choke on sites like this. Sure it protects leftie sites too, but don’t let that distract you. The globalist corporations would like nothing more than to put a throttle on sites they like and dislike, for whatever reason. Obama didn’t create it. He only ensured that it continued. He may be the devil, but that was one good thing he did. Anybody who tries to tell you different is a tool of the establishment.

Obama and Soros, 2 fantatical marxists are for net neutrality.

Soros the marxist is behind this “net neutrality” :
http://ijr.com/2015/03/270555-soros-groups-dropped-82-million-push-net-neutrality-interesting-thing-happened-placeholder/

On February 26, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) passed 400 pages worth of new internet regulations, the details of which were released Friday.

It's not a secret that left-leaning groups have advocated for “Net Neutrality” rules, but the amount of money thrown at the cause, and the sources, might be surprising.

The Media Research Center found that the Open Society Foundation, run by George Soros, donated over $82 million to “pro net-neutrality groups” between 2000 and 2013.

Between Open Society and The Ford Foundation, close to $200 million was doled out to push for net neutrality.

MRC also reported that the Ford and Open Society Foundations joined together February 11 for an event called Net Gain, intended:

‘“… to launch a major new partnership’ to deal with ‘significant challenges at the intersection of the Internet and philanthropy.”’

At the event, The Ford Foundation's President, Darren Walker, said:

“The Internet rights are civil rights. And like so many other civil rights, they need to be secured, safeguarded, protected and celebrated.”

Walker then lauded FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler’s plan to regulate the internet as a public utility:

“… the direct consequence of the tireless efforts of many of you in this room, the organization you represent, to persuade, and to challenge, to evangelize” the principles behind net neutrality.”

One of the Soros-funded groups, Free Press, heavily lobbied the FCC and, according to the Daily Caller, “their pro net-neutrality arguments” were cited 40 times in the 400 pages of regulations.

Free Press’s co-founder, college professor Robert McChesney, has advocated for government subsidized journalism:

“In the end, there is no real answer but to remove brick by brick the capitalist system itself, rebuilding the entire society on socialist principles,” McChesney wrote in a 2009 essay.

To have people on here defend this marxist tyranny these communists call “net neutrality “
is ridiculous. And the Ford foundation is a communist group. Also the NY times , wash post et al are for net neutrality (all the marxists are). There was nothing wrong with the Internet for the first
few decades before the marxist Obama (and Soros) imposed their 400 pages of “fixes” to a non-existent problem
in 2015. Now many even one here a conservative forum are calling for obama’s initial 400 pages of soros government
regulations to stay. ridiculous
. If you supporters of this bs want socialism so badly why don't you just move to Venezuela now
and join in the starvation and long lines for non-existent toilet paper.

It is my opinion that freedom last as long as Trump is president and pai is protecting the internet. not much longer after that. Obama was adding even more government regulations to all areas of the economy . This and this net neutrality will return once Trump and pai aren't there any more. This WatchungEagle seems to be a liberal mole imo.

Or perhaps he just wants to be able to keep streaming unlimited amounts of videos and games and porn. For many it is aw simple as that. Funny thing is that NN was encouraging pay per byte.
