CNN political commentator and former adviser to President Bill Clinton Paul Begala on Thursday rejected the premise that the media and the feminist community was too light on Bill Clinton for his alleged sexual assaults and harassment.
CNN host Jake Tapper brought up the subject by mentioning the deluge of op-eds in the New York Times and other outlets saying that the left should have been more condemning of Clinton's behavior. Despite the fact that Clinton faced no punishment, Begala said he "didn't get away with anything" and called Clinton "a good man."
"That conversation did occur 20 years ago," Begala responded to Tapper. "It's just a lot of people weren't around when it did."
"That conversation did happen at the time, and he didn't get away with anything," Begala continued. "He was investigated, he was litigated, he was impeached, he had finally, after lying about the affair, admitted it, apologizedmultiple times, in a very heartfelt way, privately as well as publiclyand the country forgave him."
Tapper interrupted Begala to remind him that the Monica Lewinsky scandal was not the only sex scandal to hit Clinton during his presidency.
"But that's one of the many allegations against him. There's Paula Jones, there's Jennifer Flowers, there's Juanita Broaddrick, there's Kathleen Willey. There's a bunch," Tapper said as Begala smiled.
"All of which were investigated, litigated, adjudicated," Begala said.
"We gave Ken Starr $70 million and 78 FBI agents in two years, President Clinton is the most investigated person in American history. And people arrived where they arrived. And it was not a close call," Begala continued.
Begala said that Clinton's popularity showed he was forgiven.
"By the overwhelming majority, they thought he was a good man who did a bad thing and should remain as our president because he was doing a great job. He left office after all of that, the most popular president in the history of polling," Begala said.
"He was a good person doing a good job who did a very bad thing and asked for forgiveness. He apologized, he admitted, he confessed, and he begged for forgiveness," Begala added.
Did he get indicted for rape?
If not, he got away with it.
Apparently Begala needs to reconnect with Carville, Betsy Wright, and friends and the Nuts and Sluts Brigade for a reminder of exactly how Clintonites treated Clinton-abused women back then. Even cats were not safe with these criminals on the loose.
Drag a hundred dollar bill through a television studio and you can easily get a lifelong lickspittle to rationalize anything.
The man should have resigned. He didn’t. IOWs he got away with it.
CNN defended Bill Clinton and covered up Hillary’s Bimbo patrol. They’ve been carrying water for the sexual predator for decades and still are.
Ask Juanita Brodrick about that, you disgusting piece of Clinton filth.
If not, he got away with it.
You are correct sir. He got away with it. I wonder what color the sky is in Begalas world?
Sure thing, Forehead.
We’re living in the current Festival of Misogyny precisely BECAUSE Bill Clinton got away with it.
The forehead is going to soon regret that comment...
Bill Clinton didn’t get away with anything.
No.
He got away with damn near everything.
And so did that real life Colonel Rosa Kleb he’s married to.
Heck - Hillary even tried to steal the furniture and curtains from the White House when she left.
Begala is correct, to a degree. Clinton was impeached and tried. He prevailed. Now the charges weren’t specifically sex crimes, but related to them and because of them.
Bill made a fortune off of speaking fees (the same as bribes paid in arrears), and a crooked charity. His crooked wife was the favorite to become president. Nobody ever mentions that he was impeached, held in contempt of court, disbarred by the Supreme Court and Arkansas.
Yes, he got away with it.
That’s right forehead bubba was reelected with at least 200,000 fewer votes so he got his punishment!
Violent rape, murder & treason. Guilty as sin, rich as croesus, & free as a bird.
What a country
He was popular because the news media made him popular. I remember when the inauguration of GWB occurred, and Bill & Hillary stayed around in the limelight all day long greeting people at the airport and yucking it up. The news media were rather critical of Bill at the time for his idiotic, childish behavior. They also made backhanded comments that they felt a bit of relief to get him out of DC.
Of course, later, they began their nasty coverage of anything and everything that GWB did.
With phony polls.
Gloria Steinem said thar the first grope is NOW free.
Another feminazi said she’d gladly blow Bill Clinton as a boss because of his stance on abortion.
Not good times for defense of women
