He said they would be bankrupt - not out of business. Government subsidies to this key Democrat voting bloc will save the day. :)

Are there enough Taco Bells and Burger Kings to employ all of the faculty that will be displaced?

Harvard Business School professor: Half of American colleges will be bankrupt in 10 to 15 years

In his recent book, “The Innovative University,” Christensen and co-author Henry Eyring analyze the future of traditional universities, and conclude that online education will become a more cost-effective way for students to receive an education, effectively undermining the business models of traditional institutions and running them out of business.

The other 50% will just close their doors and become homeless encampments for their homeless intellectual yet idiots grads with worthless degrees from them and faux professors!

Good professors are now doing what Amazon did to the malls with online education and degrees.

Not gonna happen. Students will always want to gather, relate directly with peers and instructors, and have quiet places reserved for studying. That’s why after 30 years, on-line courses are still mostly for working adults.

The ideal college size will always be one which can efficiently use essential resources. On-line courses mean that small colleges can offer more electives. Other essential resources used to be giant libraries and research facilities, which in turn attract top-level researchers. Today, they are becoming more mundane, such as cafeterias. Some students may even prefer a 3,000-person university over a 1,000-person college because that university has a swimming pool. And some idiots will pay $10,000 a year extra to see live sporting events.

But this doesn’t mean that the big universities will be endangered: they’ll simply make sure they continue to move into the smaller-college market by offering satellite campuses, so that you can live close to home, but still have a degree from a “name-brand” university.
