How long has Mugabe been dictator? I remember reading news about him when I was a kid - he’s had a very long run ruining Zimbabwe, one of the most resource-rich nations in the world.
Sounds like home, we have a “Deep State Coup” going on.
Coming here soon in the US to the deep state. It looks like the peaceful solution to our nations problems has failed.
So does this mean I must cancel my planned spring vacation to Zimbabwe? Gee, and I’ve been working OT for this purpose...
This is an interesting play by their army. Hold Mugabe in protective custody, rather than arrest. It’s a fine distinction, but it may help the army make their rule stick by making their actions seem ‘legitimate’. If they had shot him, or announce that he was being charged, a portion of the Zimbabwe population might have resisted. And I rather doubt that the Zimbabwe military could fight it’s way out of a wet paper bag.
Looks like the coup was a success.
