This might not be how it was supposed to go.
After a tumultuous year of protests, sinking ratings and ticket sales for the NFL, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was prepared to act.
Last week, news that Jones had threatened to sue NFL commission Roger Goodell rocked the political and sports world. Jones had been extremely critical over many of Goodell’s decisions, and was vocal over this mishandling of the players’ protests during the national anthem.
Jones decided to put his money where his mouth is, and hired an attorney in an attempt to stop negotiations for Goodell’s lucrative contract renewal.
But Jones is feeling pushback in a major way and has angered some of his fellow NFL owners, to the point where they are reportedly thinking of removing Jones from the league, Pro Football Talk reported.

I’m a Cowboys fan who likes the Giants, too -— long as they aren’t playing the Cowboys :) It’s awful to see what the Giants have become. Why on earth are they sticking with the coach? The Cowboys will get lucky to get to 8-8 this year w/o Zeke. Having the Eagles atop the East is a disaster.

Why there even NFL stories posted here is the real question? The National Felons League at this point pretty much is the antithesis of being a small government, respect our Flag for what it means, and what it is to honor those who have died for it, so why are posts here about it?
Its just a game with no real value to really what makes America such a unique place in the world.

Kneeling for prayer? I’ve never seen people pray by lining up and locking arms together like that. And what a coincidence that Jerry Jones chose to kneel just when other groups were kneeling that way to protest the police, the national anthem, Trump, etc.
I’ve also read reports that said Jones and his team were standing during the anthem, but they kept their arms locked.
That doesn’t seem like prayer to me. It seem like just another in-your-face, inappropriate political statement. So I’m done with them. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Well, in the Cowboys instance, the city of Arlington contributed $325M through bonds toward building the Stadium and Jerry contributed the remainder of the total $1.2B cost. Also, extracted this; “The Dallas Cowboys owner pays rent, $2 million a year since 2009, which is when the stadium opened. And he will as long as the team plays there. Just last year, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones started forking over an additional $500,000 annually as part of the stadium’s multimillion-dolllar naming rights deal with AT&T”.
So, in Jerry’s case I would say he has plenty of skin in the game. And, with Jerry World, Six Flags, Rangers Stadium, water parks, etc, etc, city of Arlington is now a major destination for vacations, conventions, etc, where’s a few years ago it was a sleepy Texas town on the edge of the southern plains.

Thanks for the explanation. I was 6 in ‘66, got to meet the Packers. Did not remember all the details of the merger.
I was a huge Packers fan until the NFL pooped their pants.
I grew up at a time when the vikings were a new franchise. Half well 2/3rds of my friends were Packer fans, since they were the regional teams for 30 years.
Plus the Pack were the dominant team in the league. Well soon my Vikes ascended and the Pack descended and the Vikes began gaining a good following, but since I lived in Duluth on the border, half the people still follow the pack. Many are loyal to both.
Now I live in, you ready for this?
Chico ca. I have lived here for 30 years, and while most are obviously 49er fans, I had many loyal 49er friends who supported the Vikes since they hated the Pack.
Then the Pack drafted Chicos favorite son. Rodgers. He played for the same school my nephew went to, Pleasant Valley high school. Get this, their mascot is the Vikings, no shit. LOL
Well, now I feel like I have been transported over night to Green Bay Wisconsin, minus the frozen tundra of course.
By the way, your only 4 years younger than me. Born in 56, ans started following the Vikes around 64 or so. Like you a have been a lifelong NFL fan. I bleed purple. Easy choice, I’m Norwegian, so their mascot, the Viking, was tailor made for me.
I used to watch NF: games wall to wall, I even have been ordering the NFL ticket for almost 20 years so I can get the Vikings. With TIVO, I record many games and watched them by fast forwarding the commercials.
I have it down to a science, I can watch a game in about and hour and 20 minutes, unless I just want to listen to them talk, which usually I never did. I know more about the game than most of the guys calling it, although now they have former players which are a lot better than the geeks like Joe Buck. But still, I don’t need anyone explaining what I just watched.
This year I watch only my Vikings, but nothing else, not even the sports show I used to watch. I have bee getting a lot more work done this Fall than I have in years.
I used to know what other teams are doing, but not now. I played fantasy football one year, came in second, and donated my winnings to the church, but I disliked it. Something just ain’t right about rooting for players from other teams to have a good game. So after that one season I never played fantasy football again.
So I watch my Vikes, and if they win it all finally, I’ll hang up my jersey and never wear it again, nor watch them again. I just want to see them finally win the big one before I quit. It is after all, the only joy I get out of turning on my television since I gave up movies and television shows 10 years ago.
After I stop watching football, I won’t need a TV any longer. Hell that will save me a couple hundred dollars a Month.

The first statement is a fact. The Vikings ARE the 1969 NFL Champions. The second is a wish. The problem with the wish is that the Vikings cursed themselves by moving indoors and by not putting Joe Kapp's name on the wall or ring of fame in either of their indoor stadiums. Joe Kapp took a very average bunch of offensive players and made them champions. He was the best on field leader the Vikings ever had.
Interesting. The first I heard that, but you fail to give credit to Bud Grant who took the rag tag team of misfits and made them a cohesive unit
The first thing Bud gran did, and this is from the players, nit Bus. He made them all stand near the 50 yard line and made them stand at attention and practice putting their helmets under their left arm, and their right hand on their heart to sing the national anthem.
The players at the time thought, “What kind of crap is this? This hasn’t anything to do with football.?
But it was the very first thing he did before he ever had them begin practice.
Joe Kapp said in an interview, it was Buds way of showing them they need to be disciplined or they would never be a winning team.
From that moment on, they became one of the most disciplined and prolific teams in the NFL, and it lasted till after he retired..
In my opinion, the players of the NFL, could learn a thing or two from old stone face.
Joe never did get the recognition he deserved. however, many say it’s because he decided to took the money and left for LA and stardom in Hollywood. He cared more for himself. In those days that was a sign of respect for those who did you good.
What he did was not reminiscent of the old school, it’s more of how players are today, It’s more about them than their team mates.
Many players in the following years could have done so when their contracts ran out, but they chose to stay with Bud. They all give him the credit and respect for what he did with them.
I will say in closing, they probably should put him in the ring, but from things I read from the players of the old classic Vikings, their respect for him was not as great as you believe.
