And at the time this supposedly happened the age of consent was 12. At present the age of consent is age 16y in Alabama.
So this is 1. Most likely trumped up. 2. Not illegal at the time to go out with a 16yr old.

The Achilles' Heel is not whether he broke the law (I assume he did not). It is whether he dated teenagers while he was a 32 year old Assistant District Attorney. That is toxic for a Republican in today's political environment.
Unfortunately, he will need to prove he did not know any of these families and never dated any of the teenagers, and he will need to do it quickly.
