I agree. The welfare state is the triumph of fear over confidence. And the Dems or the GOP for that matter will never stop growing the welfare state.
I thought they did that in 1988.
Rats win WA State Senate Special and now once again control that body that had been run by the GOP in concert with the West Coast’s last living conservative(ish) democrat, Tim Sheldon (voted for Bush in 2004, Obama in 2008, unknown 2012, “not Hillary” in 2016).
The GOP candidate didn’t vote for Trump and offered only the most tepid “support the Commander in Chief” type noises. Puts the lie to the lib theory that running away from Trump would be any help at all to any Republican candidate.
Latest I heard from VA House, Rats at 49, Rs 47. 4 races uncalled to be decided by provisional ballots and recounts, GOP lead in all last I heard, one was dem till late canvassing caught an error and flipped it back the Republican incumbent Tim Hugo. rats need 1 for force an icky tie and 2 to take full control, GOP hangs on 51-49 if they can keep all 4. Cross your fingers and pray for Virginia, it would be great to salvage a thin majority.
Dems making hay about winning a Michigan State House Special election with a creepy Greta Van Sustren look-a-like in the Upper Peninsula in a district Trump carried by 4 points. They fail to mention that this was a rat HOLD. While Trump did carry it, the rat incumbent won in a landslide, and while an easy rat hold at 14 points, this was actually the closest result there in at least 20 years with the Republican candidate matching the the 2010 GOP vote share. The district includes the rat stronghold of Marquette and probably hasn’t sent a Republican to Lansing since the 20’s.
Honestly, whether I want the country split up or not is irrelevant. I’m against splitting it up because I realize just how much of a completely stupid idea it is and how it would not only not work, but also massively backfire. I mean, do you really think that the leftists, many of whom never even lived in those states for most of their lives, would just obediently stay in California (since obviously they’re too radical to even consider changing their political views) if it is removed from the union, or Oregon and Washington State, for that matter? Jeffrey Katzenberg, for example, would just move back to his home state of New York, and then try his earnest to turn it into the next California/Oregon/Washington State, thus rendering the entire thing pointless. In fact, all of the leftists who aren’t from California originally anyways will just move back to their home states, and then double down on the leftward push. Probably the only leftists who MIGHT have to reap what they sew are the likes of Mark Hamill and George Lucas due to their actually BEING born in California.
Besides, let’s give it two years, I’m pretty sure people would remove the blue wall by that time anyways. If not, then we’ll have to bring in the big guns for the local elections after that and make sure staunch conservatives are in the front-running for all local elections, and then once they’re in, also make sure to pass laws that will rework the whole state’s electoral process to include voter ID and other stuff specifically to put an end to illegal immigration and voter fraud. Maybe also do blacklists of the Hollywood elite to ensure they learn their lesson.
