In a couple of earlier threads (here and here), some of us were expressing concerns about using Opera as a substitute for Firefox, since it is now basically owned by the ChiComs. (I used it as my secondary browser for several years, before it got sold.)

The gist of the article is that, outside of the U.S., there are a couple of billion people who don't seem to care which nation's government has back doors into their computers. This vast market—known as the "One Belt, One Road" (a.k.a. "Belt and Road")—is of both economic and political concern. I posted a related article on this a few minutes ago:

In Japan, Trump and Abe Offer Alternative to China’s ‘Belt and Road’

I liked Opera several years ago, but its utility and compatibility with several websites I frequent kept falling off, and I ended up just dumping it altogether about 16 months ago.

I use Firefox and Brave most of the time, and IE the rest of the time. I utterly LOATHE MS’ “Edge”.

China owns it? I didn’t know that. I’ll have to find something else.

First Chrome (Google), now this.

Get Opera for your browser and Kaspersky for your anti-virus.

Then it's Commie vs. Commie.

............Chinese private equity company..........

There are no PRIVATE Chinese companies. They are all either fronts for the Central Government or owned and operated by apparatchiks of the government. They are a Communist/Fascist hybrid slave state that relies almost exclusively on technology theft, market manipulation, unlimited low cost/slave labor and product flooding to control markets.

We should have never allowed them Most Favored Nations status or admission into the WTO without requiring a democratic form government. We have sold them the rope that they will use to hang us. We can thank the Clinton, Bush, Obama Cabal for China's ascension and AMerica's decline.

I’m just searching unsuccessfully for a browser that will allow you to see in full on a phone what you are posting on FR. FR needs an app.

wow...I’ve been an Opera user since the beginning....I paid for it and help tested it. Back then, if fit on a floppy and you “could” run it off a floppy.
I just haven’t been paying attention. I was a little miffed when the engine went to Chrome but so be it. (I’ve still got an 11.x version that is slowly becoming undone.)

I wasn’t aware it was bought by the Chinese.

Looks like I will be dumping it...maybe.
I’ve been using SlimJet more and more.
I actually like MS EDGE also.
