LAS VEGAS-A federal judge Tuesday delayed the long-awaited Bundy trial for a week, pressing prosecutors to provide more details about one or more FBI surveillance cameras trained on the family ranch as the April 2014 standoff unfolded in Nevada's high desert.
Defense attorneys learned for the first time during a court hearing last week about the existence of at least one surveillance camera set up on a hill overlooking the ranch in the southeastern corner of the state.
The lawyer for ranching family patriarch Cliven Bundy....filed an emergency motion to find out if the camera recorded images and if so why they weren't shared with the defendants.
Starting the trial without that information would bring "irreparable harm" to the defense, attorney Bret O. Whipple argued just before jurors were about to enter the packed courtroom to hear opening statements.
Cliven Bundy, sons Ammon and Ryan Bundy and supporter Ryan Bundy face 16 federal charges.......
Prosecutor Steven Myhre responded that the government wasn't aware of any video captured from a camera outside the ranch. The images were recorded on a live feed and "did not record," Myhre told the court.
"We have turned over all video surveillance the government is aware of," he said.
That includes aerial surveillance and personal surveillance taken by people on public land watching the ranch, Myhre said.
He said he believed there was one camera up for nearly a day, possible only a half-day on April 6, 2014, before someone destroyed the camera in the field. That conflicted with testimony last week from a National Park Service ranger, who said that the camera images she saw in a live feed set up on a large TV screen in the government's command center trailer ran for four days......

The lead prosecutor in this case was admitting a surveillance camera yesterday after laughing at Ryan Bundy's motion several months ago requesting information about it as part of discovery in the case.
But Steve Myhre's admission contradicted the testimony of the park service employee who revealed the camera's existence as an evidence hearing last week.
Attorney General Jeff Session's praised Steve Myhre's "leadership" in this case when he was in Las Vegas on July 12th.
I will bet that the surveillance was a rogue operation by FBI. Unwarranted surveillance. There should be a real warrant and FBI should be asked by the judge to produce it.
Perhaps the defense can get the videos of the OKC bombing while the are at it. The FBI has a history of destroying and hiding evidence like this.
Carefully chosen words by Myhre:
And of course, this video means that appeals regarding the first two trials are pretty much a done deal.
Defense attorneys learned for the first time during a court hearing last week about the existence of at least one surveillance camera set up on a hill overlooking the ranch in the southeastern corner of the state.
If we had a truly impartial judge that actually gave a damn about truth and justice, the Prosecutor would have been REMANDED FOR CONTEMPT and then Referred to the BAR association by the Judge herself for Immediate and Permanent DisBarment.
We have turned over all video surveillance the government is aware of, he said.
What does is aware of mean?”””
Translation:
We are not admitting to anything.....
If the camera was set up outside the property on public land, then they wouldn’t need a warrant.
Lawyer-speak for: “if we do have to turn something else over later, we can always claim we just discovered it, like Hillary did with all those Rose law firm billing records that were cluttering her office for years.”
If I remember right then one juror has to leave for vacation around the 10th. So there is no point in starting that phase now.
