I hate to point out to you that Trump lost Virginia one year ago. Trump lost by a quarter of a million votes, too. If Trump, the man himself, the ultimate Trumpster, Trump as Trump, can't win, I would not go around pretending that someone aping Trump had a chance to win the contest. It was never in the cards. Whoever, the candidate would have been, would have lost.

Virginia is gone. Virginia is no longer a battleground state nor will it be contested in 2020.

>> Loudon and PWC have traditionally been purple <<

I haven’t run the numbers, but I suspect they have a lot of independents — probably like the sort of people who told pollsters they were seriously turned off by Gillespie’s “hard hitting” TV commercials.

That would have been stupid, and Trump’s not stupid.

>> are his most ardent supporters going to go to the polls for ANY representative <<

A lot of DJT’s folks might stay home on election day 2020 if he’s not on the ballot AND if it’s raining with a cold wind, the way it was yesterday in NOVA.

(I’ll bet that yesterday’s miserable weather kept a bunch of potential Gillespie voters home, because unlike the Dhims, they just weren’t enthusiastic about their side’s candidate.)

I completely agree. However, the economy of the DC area is much more diverse than you are probably aware of. Hilton has their world headquarters in McLean, VA. Gannett also has their headquarters in McLean. I forgot about the military. Tons of Joint Base This and Joint Base That, which I realize is government. Mobil had their headquarters in Virginia until they merged with Exxon and that place became the main accounting department for ExxonMobil (with even more employees) until all moved to Houston last year. Surprisingly, it did not seem to cause a blip in the local economy.

Mars is headquartered in McLean, as well as, Capital One has their world headquarters here, too. Intelsat, etc.

Nestle, Rolls Royce, VW all have their US Headquarters near Dulles Airport. I think Airbus does, too.

Marriott is headquartered just across the river in Maryland, as well as Host Hotels and Discovery networks. National Geographic is located up I270 a bit further north. I could go on. This is not a one company town, but there is no doubt, the federal government is the town's industry.

Virginians voted for a transvestite for Congress. It is now a wierd Blue state fueled by DC money. It has nothing to do with Trump, he can’t win or lose it by himself. It’s lost to Federal money.

It’s true. The GOP has one path to success — get on the Trump train!

Yup, I agree.

Gillespie ran a terrible race and he was a Never Trumper from the beginning that this lost was due to not embracing Populism.

Who in the world ran his campaign?

If Rove was in the Gillespie campaign then this was the main reason that Gillespie lost.

Rove is a piece of excrement who does not know his butt from third base.

I disagree. This is an important lesson for the GOP and Trump is right to call him out. You're kind of thinking is why Republicans, like Gillespie lose every time. We need a fighter, and that is Trump.

Partner, I agree with ya. Gillespie was terrible and he lost by 9 points which is pretty significant.

If Rove was helping him then Gillespie should have known he was going to lose this race.

Good bye, Gillespie and don't let the door hit you arse when leaving.

Unless Trump succeeds in the Herculean task of dismantling the federal bureaucracy to the pre-WWII level.

If VA is as bad as you say, why did Gillespie even bother to waste money and energy by running.

I never did understand the admiration that someon FR gave him. There was all sorts of “Rove you magnificent...,” comments and love on FR for a while. Down hill slide I guess. He was and still is a hack!

Disclaimer: I did think George W Bush would do better than his father. I was so wrong. We’re liberals right in between being wrong about BJ and Nobama?

So these so-called reporters know what President Trump is thinking. Wow!

Partner, Rove is one complete Joke on the Republican party. He was hired by W. to help him win the election which was not a landslide in 2000 nor 2004.

BTW, Rove made big $$$$ on both of those campaigns as the hired political consultant for W.

The Media and a lot of talk show hosts thought that Rove was the best thing since sliced bread. I would never hire Rove to help me win an election. This was Gillespie's big time failure for hiring Rove as his personal political consultant to help him win the Governor's election in Virginia.

Rove is paid big $$$$$ as a hired political consultant for whomever hires his company as their hired gun political savvy consultant. Rove is a joke!

Rove was a hired gun by McConnell to win the Senate position over a very weak Rat senator candidate in Kentucky. McConnell just barely survived with Rove as his major hired political consultant at his side.

Gillespie should just disappear in politics forever after his complete failure to win the Governor's job for the great state of Virginia.

I am slowly moving away from this current bunch of establishment Republicans and stay as an independent, and I did vote for President Trump as our POTUS. I would have voted for Gillespie if I lived in Virginia but he just ran an awful campaign and now Gillespie will forever be known as the big time loser and Rove is counting his $$$$ as he goes to the bank. Is this a great country or what!

Rove is an establishment type of hired political consultant and Rove is a joke.

This makes Gillespie look really bad since he hired Rove as his savvy political consultant for his race for the governorship of the great state of Virginia.

Gillespie will forever be known as the big time loser while Rove goes to the bank counting his $$$$ that he received from Gillespie as a hired political strategist.

We currently have an Establishment Republican mentality that needs to follow what President Trump did in 2016.

We definitely know now that the Rat Fink Fake News MSM is the right arm of the Rat party. We know this as a fact.

Folks will start asking what in the world r u talking aobut saying this about our darling MSM.

All we have to do is point out what is happening in Senator Menendez Trial. Senator Menendez is the current senator of New Jersey. We do not hear a thing from the current Rat Fink Fake News MSM about this trial at all.

Why do we not hear about this very important trial!!!

Because it deals with a lot of unsavory tactics used by Menendez and approved by the Rat party. Senator Menendez gave preferential treatment and approved by the Rat party for a Doctor and his family that used to live in the Dominican Republic and given special citizenship docs. in return for paid trips to the Dominican Republic for lets just say right now that it was pleasure trips for Menendez. Even though those pleasure trips were really sexual in nature. There is probably more bad news in this trial for the Rat party but the Rat Fink Fake News MSM is really fighting for the Rat party by not reporting one thing out of this trail to the American public.

The Rat Fink Fake News MSM will not give out those reports to the American public since they would be very, very negative and very detrimental upon the Rat party itself. They already have a lot of actual abuse of power reports upon the Rat party itself right now and they also have Miss Hillary, former FBI director James Comey & the Imposter himself to view on the major news outlets as the Rat's big time losers.
