One of the reports I heard said a witness saw the gunman approaching the church “in full gear”. And, apparently Mr. Willeford’s daughter got a good look at what was happening. So I can well imagine how scared Willeford (especially) must have been to go out there to take on a gunman in body armor, even if he (Willeford) had an equivalent weapon...
So, Mr. Willeford wounds the shooter anyway, then our good guys in a pickup truck chase after the shooter at speeds reportedly up to 90+ mph. (I suppose the adrenaline both helps and hurts.)

The shooter was in Full body armor yet Mr. Willeford ran towards him with his rifle. I know he was thinking “I’ve got to stop this guy” but honestly, it is a miracle he was not killed. He had on a t-shirt, for crying out loud.... He said he thought God protected him and he is probably right.
He and Mr. Langendorff are huge heroes in my eyes! May God bless them both!
