Journalists Retell Their Election Night Horror Stories
'People were throwing up. People were on the floor crying'
BY: Andrew Kugle November 6, 2017 2:32 pm
Reporters, editors, and other members of the media are reliving their election night horror stories in a new exclusive detailing what journalists and figures in the presidential campaigns themselves experienced on the night of Nov. 8, 2016.
Esquire interviewed 40 people who either covered or worked on one of the campaigns during the 2016 presidential election. The individuals gave their personal stories about the unexpected election of President Donald Trump and the defeat of Hillary Clinton. Most of the reporters and editors who were interviewed expressed shock and horror at Trump's upset victory.
Here are some of their stories.
Rebecca Traister, writer at large for New Yorker Magazine, shared her feelings on being confident about a Clinton victory and how she subsequently felt "so alone" when it was apparent that Clinton would lose. She also observed Clinton supporters throwing up and crying on the floor, according to Esquire, which recounted the progression of her thoughts throughout the night.
They were serving, like, $12 pulled pork sandwiches [at the Javits Center]. It was nuts, people were bouncing off the walls. Everyone genuinely believed she was going to win. I don't know if it made me feel more confident or not.
I felt so alone, I knew it was done. I was by myself on the floor. I started to cry.
I was thinking everything from, "I'm gonna have to rewrite my piece" to, "Can we stay in the U.S.?" I texted my husband, "Tell Rosie to go to bed. I don't want her to watch."
People were throwing up. People were on the floor crying.

If they last more than four years, you may have to call the doctor!

No guns. These leftards are so stupid they might shoot an innocent bystander. What happened to slitting their wrists or hanging themselves? And i thought leftards were creative people...

“The best part about wak’n up, is know’n Hillary lost to Trump!”
Anyone who followed the statespoll.com adjusted polls knew that Trump was much closer, if not ahead, in the election. The D+9 model was not going to happen.

“Feel-good story of the day” alert...
I bathe in Schadenfreude.......
I know what it feels like to fall on the floor crying and screaming “no.” So this really offends me. These losers have no idea what real tragedy is.
I remember the night very well.
I also remember election night 2012. I was in disbelief that Obama could be re-elected POTUS. He was such a dunce, and Benghazi had just happened. The obvious incompetence of the Obama administration seemed obvious to me, so I went to bed finally and lay there shivering. I was so overwrought that I could not stop my shaking and shivering. After about 2 hours I finally got to sleep.
Last year, however, I remember calling my Florida relaives when FL was called for Trump. They were celebrating. Next I called a cousin in Milwaukee when Wisconsin was called. We were so happy, and she needed someone to talk to as she was uncertain how her children voted.
When I final went to bed, they were still waiting for Michigan and Pennsylvania to be called but DT was ahead. I woke up at about 1:30 CST and turned on my Wave radio when Jim Bonannon [I tnink] announced that DT had claimed victory and was about to enter the auditorium and speak to a crowd. So I had to get up and watch the victory speech. It was the happiest I had ever been to get out of bed at 1:30 am voluntarily.
So sad that I/we were never given the opportunity to hear Hillary Clinton concede the election.
As a matter of fact, I do believe I am still waiting for her to concede the election to Donald Trump.
Heh. I’m starting to put on the pounds from all the schadenfreude pie I’ve been eating. It’s deeeeeeeelicious!
No. It was a full moon last night. But it will be large.
