The only reason the school charters the Greek organizations is that these
Grads give more dollars back later. IMHO schools have no business chartering or sanctioning these student party clubs.
Schools don’t really charter fraternities. They just decide whether they can be recognized which usually affects the chartering.
What schools do is deny the groups the right to associate with each other. The school can make it illegal for group members to be together.
What fraternity dumped a whole truckload of fizzies into the school swim meet? What fraternity delivered the medical school cadavers to the alumni dinner? Every Halloween the trees are hung with underwear. Every Spring the toilets explode..
