Concealed Carry in Churches
Gun Watch ^ | 6 November, 2017 | Dean Weingarten

According to concealedcarry.com, concealed carry is banned in only two states, Nebraska and Louisiana. It requires permission from a church leader in seven states, Arkansas, Georgia, Michigan, Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, and South Carolina. In the other 41 states, you have the right to conceal carry in church just as you do in other private property.

The church may ban the practice, just as you may in your own home. But there is no law to prevent you from exercising the Second Amendment in church.

As long as they don’t have ptsd.

I’m in Michigan.

If you come into my church with ill intent, elders are on post to identify you before you even enter the building.

They are a themselves a capable and brave force.

Should your heart still beat, half the congregation of my church having pushed their wives and children to safety will unload their clips until you are unrecognizable by God.

Important cultural note: the congregation in this church seems to be predominately older people, perhaps baby boomers, who as a group seem to be less gun liberty oriented.

Yes that’s always possible too. Perhaps a mixture of concealed and open carry may be best possible deterant. Beyond this, it looks like we’re stuck with obama’s Bff Muslim invaders plus of course the occasional native guy who just loses it somehow. No amount of legislation or political bs speechifying or ev n policing can stop Muslim terrorists or a mental case of the domestic sort.
We just can pack and carry and keep alert and that’s maybe what is possible. Paradise is not in this world - at least not presently. Thanks

Self-defense is a God-given right. Supposedly little g can’t take it from you. But I know little g doesn’t stand for government, it stands for the god of this world.

He will do a lot of damage in the Last Days.

Until he’s locked up for 1,000 years. Then let loose for a season; then no more.

My small one is all-steel. Very heavy to carry. Hope to replace it for that role with something else.

There is one caveat to Nebraska church carry. You can carry concealed in a Nebraska church if you are a designated member of the church security team, approved by the senior pastor. There also must be some type of congregational notification that church personnel are armed, but the law is purposefully vague as to what form that communication must take.

Attended a wedding a few years back. A fellow shooter’s daughter was getting married that day. This is a small north Florida town where we all lived....

There were probably 200+ guests seated in the pews.
I was there with 9 fellow IDPA competitors and three off duty cops.
I was carrying a Glock 31 & 2 spare mags under my sport coat - every one of my compatriots was carrying as well including the bride’s father. At least three of my pals were packing two pistols and I’m sure one diehard had three on him.

We all sat near the doorways & entrances. Nice day - went off without a hitch and nobody other than our immediate group was aware of our tactics.

“Well it’s a crying shame there weren’t some good people packing in Sutherland — often that can deter — or at least minimize the casualties”

This guy was in full combat gear including a kevlar vest evidently. A normal 9X19 type slug wouldn’t have stopped him. He was expecting to have fire returned on him.

I play bass and carry and the drummer has his handgun in his Bible bag next to him. I think our minister carries, I know that our former minister was armed.

Our troops who have honorably served , whom are highly trained , and greatly experienced , STILL have an important role to play .

Like the Texas Tower shooter, this guy appears to have been a veteran.

That was updated later. Churches are legal for carry unless they put up a sign prohibiting it.

I carried before permission was given. My family’s life and safety is my responsibility not my pastors. However after a church shooting a few years ago the pastor and deacons sought out several members and let them know ccw was acceptable, just be discreet.

I know of two deacons and couple of retired police officers who carry besides myself.
