YORK, Pa.Are you OK? Where are you?
Barbara Estep kept texting her daughter, Nylaya Way, who was not responding. Donald Trump had stunned the nation by winning the presidency the night before, and now frightening things were happening at Nylayas vocational high school, York County School of Technology. Racial tensions had been building in the schools corridors, cafeteria, and parking lot throughout the historically divisive campaign. Then, hours after Trump claimed victory in the election, they boiled over as a group of white students held aloft Trump campaign signs and chanted in a hallway, White power!
A brief video clip of the incident shot across the social media feeds of York Tech students and their parents.
I just thought it was going to be this big race riot, Barbara Estep said. The country-fed boys, theyre hunters. Im sorry, thats what I thought. These city kids, they have guns. I thought it was going to be a big shootout.
Finally, a text came from Nylaya: Im OK. Stop worrying.
But even as the threat of violence seemed to ease, Estep decided to keep her daughter out of school the next day. Many other parents made the same call. When I called the school and I said, Im not going to send her, Estep recalls, the person in the attendance office said, I dont blame you.
Trumps election a year ago profoundly altered the United States in ways that continue to reverberate, but perhaps most visibly and disturbingly in how we talk to one another, especially about the hardest things, like the nations racial divide. The volume is up; the edge is sharp. Old grievances feel new, and civility is being sorely tested.

Haha. Yep.
Nice rant.
Whenever I read the word “community”, I am inclined to stop reading; it’s going to be a load of b.s. from thereafter.
I’ve made the same statement about cotton picking and agree completely on the asset transfer that’s taken place since the mid-60s. One thing about it is that the money has been well-spent from a Demo point of view because that crew stays bought and returns the goods in the voting booth.
I’ll bet the Globe had a whole bunch of puff pieces lined up for today on the power of the Antifa resistance. Then the resistance on Nov 4 fizzed out. Now the Globe returns to an earlier vintage whine about how divided the country is; boo hoo.
I was working as the Manager of a group of rental houses, when Obama was elected. There were some hard working families and some Section 8 families. One man I remember well was a Sec8 renter and his rent payment out of his pocket was $8.00 a month. His utilities were all paid and he got other forms of support. This man was healthy and able in all ways. After Obama was elected he informed me that he would no longer pay $8.00 a month, he felt that he had paid enough rent and it was now going to be free.
I did explain that he was not going to be allowed to stay if he didn’t pay his rent. After he was $16.00 behind in his rent, I bagan the eviction process. When we got before a Judge, the renter said that “We in charge now. Black folks don’t work for you no more, we are finally free, and you got to accept that.” The Judge didn’t see it that way, and he was evicted. The nonpayment of rent was a breach of the Sec 8 contract. He was not allowed to have another Sec8 contract for two years. The last time I saw him he was screaming at the Judge that Obama was going to have him fired. That didn’t happen.
I put up with this and many like it for five years and then began working in another field. It just kept getting worse through those eight years.
Matt Viser your parents must be so disappointed that you’ve reached Boston Globe writer status and still write garbage...but then again that’s why you have reached Boston Globe writer status...
LOL. Tagline! you funny guy
That’s right; after the Bolshevik Revolution of 2008 we were never supposed to see a white Christian guy (Trump professes to be a Christian) in power again - ANYWHERE. Automatic trigger for charges of “racism”, “sexism”, “anti-LGBT”...from the usual suspects.
The country was already torn apart by the Marxist Muslim pos named 0bama.

Except for the attendance office saying "I don't blame you".
Public school administrators love their brown pets. It's how they know they themselves are goodwhites.
But a time is fast approaching when the pets rise up and want those cushy no-work jobs for themselves. "We can't get fired like this!"..."What do you mean "we", whitey?"
WTF is this “work” of which your former renter was speaking? By your post, he hadn’t turned a tap in years yet he was bold enough to use the word “work” in front of the judge when he was being evicted over the matter of $16???
Oh, the poor oppressed people!
What a bunch of lies. Yeah, I am sure there were a bunch of whites chanting "White Power!"
Maybe they could hang some nooses on their front door, and spray paint some swastikas on their mailbox? I know.....burn a cross on their own front lawn.
I mean, if you are going full racial hoax, you might as well go all in.
Obama set the stage for this divide by taking sides publicly in racial conflicts. Remember Jeremiah Wright? Obama believed what Wright preached.
And there you have it folks.
For Trump supporters to even exist is "racist."
But this is OK...just so you know.
The Department of Justice stopped releasing racial rape crime statistics in 2009, the first year of Obama's reign of terror in office.
I wonder why?
As usual, a photo speaks a thousand words. Thanks for making that addition to thread.
Bingo.
Outrageous, but not at all surprising.
Watch this about a Section 8 renter:
So much of this feels completely contrived and made up.
This is a whos who of boo boos weve heard for a year.
I have been in 8 states in the past 3 months; red, blue and purple. I have heard one political comment. I think you have to look for these stories or find Facebook examples because I just dont see it daily.
