Trump had no idea what Sessions was going to do. He was asked point blank if Sessions had given him any indication that he would recuse, and Trump said, “Zero.”

For a smokescreen to be effective it has to be convincing enough to fool your friends.
Sessions is doing exactly what Trump and he have planned. Quietly, without alerting powerful targets that could cause all sorts of trouble.
If Sessions wasn’t doing the job do you think that Trump would be afraid to remove him? He’d fire him in a flash.
This is another red herring like the “McMaster is a Deep State Pro Islamist” that was so popular around here. McMaster was busy presiding over the destruction of ISIS and prepping the coming demise of North Korea’s nuclear ambitions while a good chunk of freeperdom had him as George Soro’s puppet. McMaster still has his job. Sessions still has his job.
The real news is that there is a Uranium One investigation. That’s what the Clintons and Team Obama see. Trump and Sessions are letting this bit of news out for a reason, most likely to see if any rats panic and do something stupid when they hear it. A U1 prosecution is very dangerous to some heavy hitters. They know that a Sessions recusal means nothing, but a DOJ investigation can put them in prison.

This last 2017 Summer Recess, McConnell rounded up Senators to vote against allowing the President to make any recess appointments. They voted they were not really in recess, they were in ‘Pro Forma Session’.
The fact that the President can’t get his team in place, and he can’t get his judges confirmed (slow trickle), is due to Senate OBSTRUCTION —> McConnell.
