There is always going to be division. No one can submit any legislation that does not have division. Especially true nowadays in this country.
Big savings (not) my tax bill will be 365 dollars less under the new plan. Can get one months supply of medicine with that saving and scrap for the rest of the year.
Reducing the number of tax brackets is not slashing, and it is not simplification.
Ditching the AMT is good, but will be reported in the media as “tax breaks for the rich.”
This is an interesting exercise, but the chances of substantial changes to the current monstrosity of a tax code are slim. Too many entrenched interests.
And even if it were a wonderful change that benefited everyone, the dems would shoot it down no matter what.
