Dave drove back to Kalispell, as they came into cell phone coverage, they called Rory's wife, Kristine. They told her to call Urgent Care, so they could have Rory's wounds treated. When they got back, Kristine told them Urgent Care said it would not treat a bear attack victim. Rory would have to go to the hospital. Rory insisted on taking off his hunting shirt. He left it at the house so the hospital staff would not cut it off him in treatment.

Whaaat? WTH good is 'urgent care' if they won't treat a bleeding man?

I was on my first cup of coffee, best excuse I can come up with. I actually have two left handed bolt action 700's, a 243 and a 270. And a 870 20 gauge pump and a left handed 12 gauge 1100. So, lesson learned; never post on ones first cup of coffee and always proof ones post before hitting send. Have a great day 😏!

You have to move the pump handle up first, then you can move it back and forth.

Don’t forget to move the handle back down. It won’t fire if the handle is up.

Scary as Hell story! This is the worst type of bear attack: Thick brush, fast bear.

Bears can charge at what seems to be a million miles an hour only to stop on a dime and give you nine cents change! They are wicked fast and agile.

People who carry bear spray and bullets don’t realize that there may only be time for one option and is has to work. You don’t get time to spray and pray any bear spray then draw a gun and shoot. Pick one. You’ve got about 2 seconds.

I have an unfair advantage, which I should have explained. I talked to David Chuckallew. He said he knew the Taurus is a modern revolver, but he carried it with an empty chamber because that is what he was taught.

I have run into a number of people who do the same thing with Smith & Wesson and other modern revolvers. I guess we could call them “belt and suspenders” men.

How does a revolver work? If an empty chamber is up, do you have to pull the trigger twice to get the first round off?

12 gauge slugs are what the Alaskan State Police reccommend and train with.
