The lobbying firms the Podesta Group and Mercury Public Affairs are the unnamed companies in the grand jury indictment of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his deputy, Rick Gates, according to three sources with knowledge of the investigation.

The indictment, unsealed Monday, refers to "Company A" and "Company B" as the firms Manafort and Gates solicited in 2012 to lobby on behalf of the Ukranian government. Company A is Mercury Public Affairs and Company B is the Podesta Group, the sources said.

The revelation of the companies’ identities points to more details about the players involved in the high-stakes venture run by Manafort and Gates to push the interest of a pro-Russia Ukranian political party inside the United States. It also provides a glimpse into the material special prosecutor Robert Mueller has corroborated on both companies and the potential legal repercussions both groups could face.

According to the indictment, the lobbying firms were paid $2 million from offshore accounts controlled by Manafort.

Their work included lobbying "multiple members of Congress and their staffs about Ukraine sanctions, the validity of Ukraine elections" that the reasons for imprisoning Yulia Tymoshenko, the political rival of Russian-backed Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.

The indictment also revealed that Gates told Company A, now known to be Mercury, in February 2012 that it would be "representing the Government of Ukraine in [Washington] D.C."

I thought free republic policy was that you ping someone you refer to in a message? Maybe you should ping him?

Oh yeah that was funny - he heard it on Rush. Hey, I’m sure Rush’s screeners do their research.

Trump doesnt have a problem with sessions.so says someone with sources

I agree that President Trump does not have a problem with AG Sessions... and I have NO sources... But President Trump did make a whole lot of people think he did... did you notice that Mitch the Senate let President Trump know he was stuck with AG Sessions? Now why do you suppose President Trump 'forced' the Senate to make a 'stand' regarding hearings for a 'new' Attorney General... Supposedly, the Senate liked Sessions just fine...

President Trump speak is not always understood... by the masses ... but those that he is directing his specific comments to, do get the message..

Trump speak during the campaign was the best ever...

You are right. You were the first one to put me on the search of Manafort. I sure hope his daughter’s haven’t buried him.

You are absolutely right, Magglepuss. I completely forget, probably I didn’t think he had posted to this thread.

I will ping him right now that he is being trashed by a few, but appreciated my many.

At the time someone pointed out that the daughter could be disgruntled. .not sure if I also made that a possibility in my posts but it is true...the hacked texts by themselves arent enough

But things she said lined up with the dustin hoffman saga..etc

The most interesting thing to me was the way he communicated by draft emails

I have made no claim on the specifics of this case. I have however called you out on the snarky untrue comments you attribute to popular freeper LS, and later comments about lakeshark with no ping. If this were the only thread you had done this on, I wouldn’t have commented, but you were on another thread today trying to call out LS for what? I really do hope LS doesn’t leave free republic because of people like you. LS is one of the reasons I come to free republic and actively search under user for his input on threads, and I know others do as well. You, meh.

That is one of my favorite quotes...
“There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don’t know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don’t know we don’t know.” Donald Rumsfeld

He was ridiculed by the MSM for saying this, but it is quite true...

These item numbers look like official correspondence, so how is this just a’possiblity’, as the next poster says it has been verified as true with FR??

Maybe it is speculation or humor, but why can’t it be copied? Just saying....or asking?

Well if he goes after them they won’t be able to call bias will they?

A lot of this makes sense but a lot doesn’t.

If the evidence is super damning I don’t think they have any choice but to go with it.

The investigation has gone towards Podesta. Manafort and Gates allegedly laundered 75mil maybe they’ll sing about Podesta and other connections. Who knows what will come up?

The information in your post can easily be debunked. For example Mueller didn't resign from the FBI in 2013 because he was disgusted. In fact the opposite is true.

Mueller's 10 year term at the FBI expired in 2011. An FBI director is supposed to only serve one term. Instead of leaving Mueller was given an exemption and a two year extension by Obama.

So who is the person in your post who is lying and trying to cover up for Mueller?

1- Tony Podesta just quit.

Podesta hasn't been indicted. I think he's gone into hiding and eventually will come back to his company.

There's the difference, I don't think "they" even consider the "evidence" that does not support the cause.
