A House Democrat plans to propose an amendment to the Constitution that would limit presidential pardoning authority in the wake of three Trump campaign aides facing indictments in the special counsel investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Under Rep. Steve Cohen

“How about a Constitutional Amendment against idiots being allowed in Congress?”
I’d go with a tested and certified IQ of 120 to serve in any Federal office.
Is it any wonder why the Congress critters accomplish zero? Its a case of ping pong politics. They go back and forth on nonsense and when it comes to hard decisions, they hide, and use distractions to get out of what they are there to do. Their main concern is their protection of their own golden goose, all else is secondary. Had Trump been Clinton, it would go the opposite way. The Republicans don’t have the testosterone to stand up against the opposition when the situation is reversed.
Perhaps make it so presidents can’t pardon major drug cartel leaders or FALN terrorists?
A Democrat who is clueless as to how The US Constitution works!
What were the odds?!?
“Steve Cohen is the nutjob of all nutjobs and belongs in a rubber room.”
Absolutely. Even the Black Congressional Caucus wouldn’t admit him, that’s how nutty he is. (That and the fact that he’s a honky.)
“Cohen plans to introduce the amendment”
Cohen won’t be “introducing” anything; he’ll file his proposed piece of legislation and it’ll go into a hopper of about 100,000 pieces of worthless vanity legislation that will simply crumble into paper dust, while never seeing the light of day or committee assignment.
Does Cohen understand that the Republicans may not be in office forever and such a restriction could boomerang on the Democrats?
Does he realize that his effort has no merit?
Does he know how long it takes an amendment to the Constitution to be vetted and approved?
Or is he taking this hysterical action to please himself because he wants to feel like he is doing something?
2/3 states vote to amend the constitution within a year or so? Right! Not going to happen. Just grandstanding.
...3/4...
Yep. 50 X .75= 37.5 = 38 states.
Gotta hand it to them - when they grasp at straws, they leave no straw un-grasped....
Then there’s that neat little proviso requiring ratification within a time frame specified in the original amendment bill, usually seven years.
Look up “Equal Rights Amendment”. Feminazis are still seething at how it failed to get 38 states even after the deadline was extended by three years. Dat bad ol’ Phyllis Schlafly she done queered the whole deal!
Amending the Constitution is an extremely difficult process, just as those dead white slave owning men aka the Founders intended it to be. /s
Never was the case of consciousness when Obama did it or Clinton released FALN
Went to Wiki. Total left wing moonbat. From Tennessee of all places but his district includes Memphis so that explains a lot.
One day, Cohen might need to be pardoned and the POTUS might have just run his/her limit. Oops. Be careful what you wish for.
How about Legislation that requires all members of Congress, etc, to disclose their health problems?
How many in Congress are on Alzeimer’s medication???
What other meds are messing up their decision making abilities.!!!
This still means that this is not going to happen. Too difficult to get passed and takes years.
All this because some nutcase democRAT wants to keep Trump from pardoning members of his campaign who might happen to be convicted of a crime.
Of course, he was silent when Clinton and Obama were pardoning people.
Where was Cohen during Clinton & Obama’s presidencies?
I’d prefer it if Democrats would call for term limits in both Houses of Congress.
Guess that would go over like a lead balloon in a hail storm.
Just like their proposal....
