I cannot see in good light what he and his ilks did after 1990. China was no longer useful as a counterweight to Soviet Union. China was and is not a benign power which can be groomed into a well-behaving cash-cow country for global business. China would find such a characterization deeply insulting. Whatever impression China has given was a cover until it becomes a major power to challenge U.S..
