The Golden State Warriors, who are based in Oakland, Calif., used their home game on Wednesday night to host what they called LGBTQ Pride Night.
In a pregame news conference, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, Warriors coach Steve Kerr told parents how they could use the night to instruct their kids on what their view should be towards LGBTQwhich stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning.
Maybe if youre coming to the game tonight and your child says, Whats that? explain it to them, Kerr said, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Explain to them the importance of loving the person next to you, no matter who they are and where they come from. Theyre human beings. Were all human beings. Were all in this together.
Im really encouraged by my kids experience in California growing up, just in terms of acceptance, Kerr said. It seems like our young generation is learning more about it. We all just are who we are. Were all individuals, and what makes our country great is our diversity. The fact that we can respect each other, work together and embrace each other, I think its an important night for us, and we welcome everybody in the LGBTQ community.
Im proud to be a part of an organization and a region, an area, that really embraces diversity, Kerr said. I dont think there has ever been a more important time in our country to respect the person next to you regardless of race, creed, color, sexual preference, sexual identity.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that the president of the Warriors is gay: The Rick Welts, who became the first prominent American sports executive to come out openly as gay in 2011, has served as Golden States president for the past six years.

Boycott the NBA.
“Steve Kerr proud of Warriors for hosting LGBTQ Pride Night”

“While other NBA head coaches generally stick to basketball, Steve Kerr has emerged as a respected voice in public discourse.”
When did the “Q” start standing for “questioning”? I thought it stood for “queer”.
I’m sick of this $hit.
What about when the players keep it on the down-low. Is that covered by the B or the G?
Explain to your children, this is what mental illness looks like.
I drove my son through the hood all the time and told him, this is what laziness, lack of schooling, and drugs does for you. I stuck.
Or maybe, keep you kids at home so they avoid this particular weirdness. Or better yet, move them as far away from California as you can afford to go.
“Were all individuals, and what makes our country great is our diversity.” Nonsense.
Change the name to the Social Justice Warriors.
If some Gay Dude hit on an NBA Player, the Player would be in Jail for Assault.
Same goes if an NBA Player is with a Woman who really isn’t and he gets a surprise, if you know what I mean. LOL
My education - drive by and point out the depravity and perversion. Educate my children on how God struck down Sodom and Gomorrah for their arrogance and ignoring God.
Actually I can accept the "questioning" part.I remember at 13 questioning whether I wanted to "befriend" DeeDee across the street or Loretta, who sat near me in home room.
NFL NBA
Same thing.
Holding out hope for MLB.
Kerr is such a phony. All this talk and (since 2004) his primary residence has been in fancy Rancho Santa Fe. Before that, it was in posh Pacific Palisades.
When is Straight Pride Night?
Time to homeschool.
