Agreement specifically blames Lois Lerner by name for failures
The IRS admitted in court Wednesday that it wrongly targeted tea party and other conservative groups for intrusive scrutiny, placing specific blame on former senior executive Lois G. Lerner, and entered into a settlement designed to make sure that kind of political targeting never takes place again.
The filing, made in federal court in Washington, D.C., amounts to a stunning apology from the Trump administration for actions taken under President Barack Obama, when hundreds of tea party and conservative groups were singled out for intrusive screening, forced to wait years for their applications to be approved, and subjected to outrageous questions.

“I want prosecutions”
It’s the ONLY way to ensure it never happens again.
Put a score of people in Federal Prison for 10+ years and seize all their assets.
For Denying Civil Rights Under Color Of Law.
Everyone involved violated equal protection, at least.
Leave a mark? Are you kidding?
It was a well-worth-it bargain in the mind of the Dems, who fight without honor.
And Trump’s not infallible. He’s been in office over 10 months — and still has Obama’s Commissioner in at the IRS, reporting to Trump’s liberal NYC Democrat Mnuchin Sec. of the Treasury.
Shockingly bad article.
It falsely characterizes the “Trump Administration” as having “cleared” her.
It fails to mention today’s departure of the current head of the IRS.
It implies that the settlement amounts merely to an admission of wrong-doing but other sources say its unknown what the terms of the settlement were. Money may certainly be involved.
Exactly—the only way to deter the vermin.
An apology from the Trump Administration is a terrible description. It’s an apology and acknowledgment from the I.R.S. and the Justice Department, acknowledging that wrongs were committed. Those agencies are now led by Trump administration, but they weren’t apologizing for the actions of the people within the Trump administration.
lots of raged filled responses so far.
when joseph was let out of jail did he seek retaliation? no. he let God handle it, he was elevated to second highest in the land and his brothers had to come begging to him some years later and living with guilt of having to watch their father go thru agony of thinking he had lost his son.
Trump handling it this way, so far, is somewhat along that line. Wrongs were committed on predecessors watch, Trump sees that it’s stated that way in agreement to make it up some to those harmed.
I’d like to seem many obama admin jailed or hugely fined, but let God deal with the losers who played dirty.
Is it too late to file charges?
Dont miss the fact that this will leave a mark.
Most importantly, dont miss the fact that Trump knows what hes doing.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I have a feeling that President Trump is not yet done with the IRS or Lois Learner.
There has been a finding of fact of IRS civil liability
and settlements on Tea Party lawsuits against the IRS.
Learner was at the center of it.
And Koskonin is out of a job.
“President Trump made it official on Thursday that embattled IRS Commissioner John Koskinen will be out of a job next month.
Trump tapped David Kautter, the Treasury Departments assistant secretary for tax policy, to serve as interim IRS commissioner, beginning Nov. 13.
Koskinens term ends on Nov. 12. He was eligible for reappointment, but Koskinen is fiercely opposed by congressional Republicans. Members of the House Freedom Caucus attempted but failed to impeach Koskinen last year, largely over his handling of the scandal involving former IRS official Lois Lerner.
Prior to Koskinens tenure, Lerner was accused targeting conservative groups who applied for non-profit status. Koskinen was accused of stonewalling congressional investigators looking into Lerners activities as well as of covering up for the Obama administration.”

Lois got her pension and a good recommendation so she’s fine.
In this case it is not even a genuine “act of contrition” because Lois Lerner and her comrades are not the ones making the settlement (and most certainly don’t actually feel any regret, except that they got caught).
What about individuals who were targeted?
Actually, no—the IRS is still run by an Obama holdover. And Trump has a liberal Dem (Mnuchin) is as the commissioner’s boss.
There are so many D.C. crooks, I wonder if the gov’t will have incarceration rooms to accommodate them all.
Perhaps we need a CONSERVATIVE Review Board to review current Federal inmates and release those who were framed by the gov’t’s corrupt “Intelligence Agencies”.
That’s not what I mean, but actually he did just today ditch the holdover.
Patiently waiting for perjury charges.
Trump apologizing? WTF? Does ANY leftist EVER go to jail for breaking the law besides Anthony Weiner? What Weiner did was perverted, but remember - He didn’t touch anybody. Meanwhile we got Hillary still waltzing around with 110 FELONY violations of the espionage act, racketeering, theft, possible involvement in MURDER. Anything happening to her. No, of course not. Harassment of US citizen by the IRS solely because of their political beliefs? Oh that’s perfectly OK, but let’s throw a guy in jail for sexting because THAT is a priority, that is a huge threat to the country.
“Her actions also benefited the republican leadership. They knew and did nothing.”
Proof that GOPe is in total cahoots with the Dems. Six years in the majority under Obama and...nothing.
Only fright Lois Lerner ever got was when a conservative reporter ran her to earth at her front door. She scuttled over to her neighbor’s house, banged on his door and demanded he let her in. He told her to get lost.
That was classic, I loved it.
I want to see people frog marched out of the IRS.
