In the course of his time at ABC News, journalist and co-author of Game Change, Mark Halperin, sexually harassed multiple women, according to report released Wednesday night which cites five women who claim to have endured the harassment.
"During this period, I did pursue relationships with women that I worked with, including some junior to me," Halperin said in a statement obtained by CNN. "I now understand from these accounts that my behavior was inappropriate and caused others pain. For that, I am deeply sorry and I apologize. Under the circumstances, I'm going to take a step back from my day-to-day work while I properly deal with this situation."
The harassment accusations uncovered by CNN allege Halperin propositioned employees for sex, kissed, and grabbed co-workers' breasts against their will and pressed his erect penis against them while clothed without their consent. Halperin denies grabbing a woman's breasts and pressing his genitals against three of the women.
Halperin, widely known in Washington for his political reporting career, has previously served as political director at ABC News, co-authored the bestselling book Game Change, which HBO picked up and made into a movie, and hosted a political analysis show on Bloomberg TV.
"For the last 11 years, I have had to watch this guy find success in every other news organization," one of the anonymous women who said she experienced harassment told CNN.
In 2011, Halperin made headlines after he was suspended from MSNBC for saying former President Barack Obama came off as "a dick" on "Morning Joe." His suspension was lifted after about a month.
The veteran journalist is currently an analyst for NBC News and co-host of Showtime's "The Circus."
Uh oh, looks like the strategy of accusing President Bush didn’t by them much time.
Reminds me of the late 90s early 00s, when lots of people were saying they were molested by their fathers. Same type of build up is happening now, all for the same goal to paint all guys as predators.
After watching this whiny b!tch in “Trumped”, I’ll say it couldn’t have happened to a better person. He’s an ass-munch.
Ain’t nobody coming forward and accusing the local welder of this offense. Must have something to do with $$$!
Re: #2
Telling the truth like that will get you hurt.
In the mating game men and women chase after each other in different ways.
Not money; it is about worldview. Libs look at this as a quid pro quo for providing fake jobs and opportunities for professional victim classes; their very policies indicate they view some groups (especially women) as genetically inferior.
If they were smart they would come forward and accuse the local welder. Welders make good money, better than a lot of media types.
Time to buy stock in sex robots.
The Reign of Terror continues. It will damage the left beyond what anyone can imagine at this point.
I view this trend recently to claim you were sexually harassed as a form of societal mass hysteria. Jump on the bandwagon type of behavior.
Something that allegedly happened 20-35 years ago is not only questionable, but they give no credible evidence of any kind to prove such allegations.
Why would otherwise normal adults want to embarrass themselves in front of the entire world without being able to prove it? What else is to be gained but a short-lived celebrity status?
Like you said, 15 minutes of "fame" to gain entry into the #metoo group.
Most people would want to keep such things private, learn life's lessons from such situations and move on.
But then they would miss out in being part of the "cool crowd" as you call it.
Hahaha.
