A math education professor at the University of Illinois says the ability to solve geometry and algebra problems and teaching such subjects perpetuates so-called white privilege.

This person did not think this thing through very well. The outcome is that non-whites cannot solve equations, etc? WTH?
I guess al the Indians and Asians who excel at subjects like math haven’t heard of this.

When some snowflake says “white privilege”, they are including Asians and Indians.
So, are we supposed to stop learning math now? I had no idea that math was a zero sum skill set.

I think we all know that the word “minority” has a very narrow meaning in this context. Indians and Asians, both value education, “a certain other group” doesn’t in large measure. They favor “learning Ebonics” and developing clothing styles that expose their butt cracks. No algebra involved in either activity.

We’ve been doing that for centuries...nothing new.
Well, some people are good at math, some aren’t.
So what excuse can white people use who aren’t very good at math?
She may not really know any math as she is a “Math Education Teacher” and not a Math Teacher.
That also occurred to me with I posted this. Education Degrees are considered a Joke by most Academics including Educators.
Then the “professor” should immediately quit teaching. What an idiot.
And Asians and Indians can’t jump and have no rhythm, so more proof that they’re actually White people wearing clever disguises created by White people to fool “authentic” people of color.
We are all supposed to join in with bone rattlers, dance around bonfires in loin cloths, and outlaw science to prove we are not racist.
This offers us the insight that liberal criticisms of America are accurate as to what liberals discern and expect to accomplish. Conservatives have a different view of America, with opportunity and hope for everyone, regardless of race or poverty. The price though is hard work using proven traditional methods and values.
Weren’t algebra and geometry invented in Africa when the White man was still living in trees? That’s what Al Sharpton says.
I had a latino male teacher for Calculus I and a black female for II. How does that figure?
And while we continue to argue about this BS, the rest of the world marches on.
Maybe that should tell something — that we are whiny ingrates who have too much free time on our hands to think up this crap.
There appears to be no end to the efforts to claim ‘victimhood’ in today’s world. Perhaps the most cherished and privileged generations in the history of the world, are finding it necessary to claim even the faintest of excuses for their non-successes. These past two generations, whatever labels are attached, have had their personal electronics, participation trophies and endless deference to feelings over substance.
As a Baby Boomer, I thought I had good things, and I did in comparison to my parents who were born in the Great Depression and then had WW2 on top of that. Still the things that these literal snowflakes cry such bitter tears about would not faze the Greatest Generation in the slightest!
GROW UP or SHUT UP!
Call outs for using big words too. Being entitled through your own means is indeed a privilege.
