Some of the comments appearing here on this matter are pretty unfounded.
Leaving aside their real or imagined issues, however, I think Amazon would be great for any second-tier city that is hoping to become a first-tier city. I wonder if Jax (Jacksonville, FL) has applied. It would be a great fit, I think. Its a regionally important city, already has a lot of back office stuff and young people moving in from the NE, its a port and near great coastal recreation areas...and this could be its chance to become a nationally important city.
Companies do not hire by politics.. Really? LOL Maybe not in the warehouse but in their corporate offices it’s a different story. Here are two examples of the Amazon liberal employees:

Amazon is the largest employer in what is arguably the most liberal city in the country. Of course they hire liberals.
