Why so insult the chess club?
Never Trumpers are the ultimate group-think suck ups. That ain’t the chess club. At best, it is the AV club. But even that is giving the Never Trumpers too much credit.
I think of them more as the official mall cops of the DC Swamp.
We all know the establishment types were in Glee Club.
The Chess Club all grew up and pay taxes...

(I was never a chess club member, but that is the HS group I would most identify with. But the article and the metaphor are great, so I’m just rolling with it. I get his meaning and take no offense at his depiction of chess club types.)
I think the point is that the GOPe think they are above everyone else and somehow deserve to be in charge of the whole country. We normals (chess-playing or not) are having none of it. Some of us used to think they were looking out for us because they were not Clintons/0vomits. But the masks are off and we can clearly see that they are just democrat lite. And also that they are lousy chess players.
