BERLIN (AP) — All of Germany's six submarines are out of action, and the country's defense minister isn't happy about it.
The Kieler Nachrichten newspaper reports that four U-boats are being serviced in boatyards while two others are waiting for a berth.
Asked how Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen views the temporary loss of the underwater fleet, her spokesman said Friday that "this is obviously not a good situation."
Jens Flosdorff told reporters in Berlin that "we would hope the mission readiness was higher, but sometimes with technology the devil is in the detail."

Meh, I can’t really think of any war Germany would realistically be involved in. Much less a war involving naval action.
That's what I was thinking. Electric powered subs have been around a long time. But it's a b*tch to recharge the batteries at the surface with solar panels, not so stealthy.
Germany better get to work—They will need a lot more than six U-Boats—triple that number—when the big war comes. Come it will—Any who believes that there will not be another war are fools.
Lots of politicians are fools. Dismantling their military, thinking that will bring peace on Earth. Fools. Back in the early 1950s when the Korean War crap happened, the USA was caught with it's pants down because President Truman had dismantled much of the US military. Our military was forced to pull tanks out of museums and mothballs because we didn't have any to field in Korea.
Sort of what Obama did, downsizing our military, before President Trump came along to reverse that unfortunate mistake by Obama. Europe has been doing a lot of that downsizing, expecting the USA to step in and protect them. We'll have our hands full and Europe will be caught without the might to fight the big war. You're right, it's coming.

They won’t have to spend as much time on the surface recharging because the screen doors help with ventilation.
These subs are all 212 models, which have a diesel electric main propulsion with a unique hydrogen fuel cell auxiliary drive for underwater operation. This makes them especially quiet. Along with nonmagnetic hulls and maneuverable x-arrangement rudders, they are well-suited to operation in the shallow and constricted waters of the Baltic. With Germany’s entire fleet essentially out of operation though, one cannot but wonder if the 212 class suffers from mechanical or design faults.
We have been at war since 1979; with Islam.
Jimmy Carter and those that followed him failed to acknowledge that fact until September 11, 2001.
Even then they mouthed words that we were not at war with Islam, that it was only a few radicals.
But that radicalism spread across the world like an airborne plague. Now it is on every continent except Antarctica (who knows maybe it is there).
The Chinese, the Russians and even the Saudis are fighting the infestation.
Islam is evil incarnate. The Devil’s religion giving hate free reign to maim and kill for the slightest reason. Your child defies you; kill it. Someone steals from you; cut off his hand. Suspect your wife is unfaithful; stone her to death in the public square.
The war against Islam is the Third World War. If only our leaders would recognize the fact and act accordingly.
Islamists planned for a one-hundred-year war. The West won't even accept and acknowledge that Islam is only a few decades into that war and it will get much worse for this century. Our leaders are woefully ignorant of that war which is in progress that is world-wide.

Considering the ample evidence that is easily available and in the public domain I am frequently forced to ask the question.
Are our leaders ignorant of the Islamic World War or is there a personal agenda in play which makes publicly acknowledging the war inconvenient?
With the Bushes I have to say that their ties to the oil industry could be a personal interest that comes in to play.
With Obama Islam itself could be a hinderance to acknowledging Islam’s war on the West.
Will Trump acknowledge the Third World War during his administration?
I don’t know of any Trump ties to oil or Islam so I am hopeful.

Then there was that woman, Kennedy, on her show (last night?) telling a spec ops guy that the war has gone on too long and we must stop killing them, that killing muslim fighters is not the way to end it because there must be a better way it just hasn’t been found yet ... (implication: stop killing them right now. Just wait it out.)
She just could not wrap her vacuous head around the concept of a war lasting centuries or more ... even though the spec ops guy told her this is a generational war which will not end until young muslim males realize that dying for Islam is not the way to Heaven.
