THE MAMAS & THE PAPAS

”12:30”

This was their last gasp, and the song peaked at #20 on the charts. It’s one of John’s best compositions and deserved better.

The Mamas & the Papas: “12:30”

The band got back together for a disastrous album in 1971. It was not only a financial failure, but an artistic failure.

Cass died of a heart attack in 1974 at age 32. Her final two albums did not do well, but her gig at London’s Palladium was a smashing success. She may have been on the verge of greatness.

John had a country hit and wrote a few movie scores, but his heroin habit held him back. He died of a heart attack at age 65 in 2001.

Denny went back to Canada and worked on the stage and television. He died in 2007 at age 66 of an aortic aneurism.

Michelle became an actress in movies and television, and is the last surviving member.

Sic transit gloria.
