It has been reported that Samantha Power, while serving as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, requested or initiated a request for more than 260 unmaskings of Americans whose conversations were picked up during surveillance. But today, according to Rep. Trey Gowdy, Power denied making anything close to that number of unmasking requests.
Here is what Gowdy told Fox News Bret Baier:
BAIER: You are also looking, and have talked to the former Ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power. We reported that she requested or her officer requested 260 plus efforts to unmask, in other words, get who was talking about picked up in surveillance. How did she answer that question? Why so many?
GOWDY: Well, Ill tell you broadly, Bret, I think if she was on your show, she would say those attempt to unmask may have been attributed to her. But they greatly exceed, by an exponential factor, the number of requests that she actually made.
I assume Gowdy is accurately characterizing Powers testimony. I dont assume Power is telling the truth, but she may be.
If she is, I agree with Gowdy who also told Baier, Weve got to get to the bottom of that. Did the alleged unmaskings incorrectly attributed to Power actually occur? If so, who was responsible for them and how did the unmaskings come to be incorrectly attributed to Power?

If we have all of these complex rules about unmasking, but someone can just proxy ask, we have a massive problem.
Let her rise to her own indefense by permitting her to point out exactly how many she made - then she introduces the line of questioning. Who, what for, public figure or not, how many times...and whether or not any of her answers agree with the evidence.
Reserve the rest of the staff illegal access and spread it around her staffers under oath. More than one will crack. Just in time for mid-terms...
Two huge disappointments: Trey Gowdy and Jeff Sessions.
All Hat and No Cattle Gowdy has never gotten to the bottom of anything.
Wonder what his hair will look like this time?
While coaxing her to turn on ValJar... who directed with exiled Holder every stitch of this.
Fixed it
Like Jarhead said, Gowdy is a congressman. As enumerated under the Constitution, all he can do is recommend. He could've handed a slam-dunk case to Comey and whatever traitor was AG, but do you really think they would have done anything? Gowdy couldn't prosecute. I do think if we had Gowdy as AG, people would start getting arrested left and right. But then, who would start making recommendations to Gowdy?
We all know what Cummings thought; that it was all just a witch hunt, with nothing 'there'. Yet if it was a republican, he would've put on his stupid angry face and screamed for a prosecution, when that isn't the job of congress.
Again, Gowdy can't prosecute. That's up to different people.
well said!!
Gowdy’s investigation of Benghazi was a whitewash.

Wherher she unmasked 26 or 260 makes no difference, this is a fracking crime. sheesh. What the heck are we discussing here?

Ha, BINGO. At usual, most are debating from the Leftist stance/talking-points instead of the root of the issue.
Why else can’t the (R) articulate themselves out of a wet paper bag. Heaven forbid if they got into a discussion/debate w/ a Leftist...
Trey means well, but he’s a tool of the GOPe to make it feel like the injustices are being addressed.
Im sorry but you are mistaken. He got in front of cameras every day to let the American people know what crimes were committed and what stonewalling was being done. He did everything in his power to make public what the rest of the swamp refused to bring forth. So much so that a JR. Prosecutor from college would have won this case. It isnt his job to ensure injustices are addressed that is the job of the DOJ.
Ill ask again, why have you not fired off a letter to the WH asking our President why his DOJ has not yet brought charges? Im quite certain you were beside yourself as was I when the last admin refused to prosecute.
