The less money controlled by Mitch's or Chuck's greedy crooked hands , the better. If they are feeling guilty donate it to charity.

If these guiltily rich idiots wanted to do societal good with their money, the last place they would give it would be to the government. There are far more efficient charities.

I'll believe that rich left wingers are serious about the problems of inheritance when half of the Kennedy family wealth disappears into the ravenous jaws of government every generation. Old Joe to John, Robert and Fat Ted would be one halving. Then that generation to the next would be halved again. And now that some of the next generation are dying before old age (like John Jr), half of their wealth should go to the government. Oh, wait, all of it is hidden in trusts so none is subject to death taxes rather than 3/4 to 7/8 of the family fortune? Yeah, you're worried about the uneven distribution of wealth.

If their stated goal were to point out that "poorer" people pay too much in taxes, I'd be onboard with that.

Unfortunately, they are claiming that Uncle Sam isn't confiscating enough from "richer" people .

“This inherited wealth can be passed on to one’s family members tax-free unless it’s larger than $5,430,000 – an extremely generous arrangement. (This means that fewer than 1% of all estates are taxed.) This is part of why social mobility is no longer what it once was. There are real racial gaps in upward mobility as well.”

If I or anyone else wants to save their money and leave a significant amount for their children, it should be our right - without question. If you can't pass on to your children what you've worked for, then it really isn't yours. You're taxed on what you earn. Taxed on what you purchase. Taxed on any income you may make from investing the money you've already paid taxes on. Local tax. State tax. Federal tax. Automobile tax. General sales tax. Property tax. Capital gains tax. etc. etc. All of this so that ‘public servants’ like the Clintons have lots of ‘government money’ to spend to buy votes, all the while they are making themselves extremely wealthy. This is out of control.

“...Iimay Ho, the executive director of Resource Generation, a nonprofit...”

“... she has personal access to net assets of $100,000 and that she makes $68,000 a year... put Ho in the top 10% of those in her 18-to-35 age bracket, she said.”

“Ho also owns a $370,000 apartment.”

We all here can figure out why it’s a non-profit.

My lib relatives who have money say they are totally OK with the govt taking it and redistributing it. They don’t trust people to do a good job with their own money so they trust the GOVT to do it. I just shake my head.

The great irony is, the more central control, socialism and statism you have, the more you make a few people very wealthy, at the expensive of society.

“For instance, Iimay Ho, the executive director of Resource Generation, a nonprofit working to “organize young people with wealth and class privilege” to work to relieve inequality, came out to me when we first spoke on the phone.”

“Iimay Ho”?

Really, you are?

What do you charge?

Anything in excess of whatever the current estate tax amount is around the hopefully distant time of the demise of yours truly is going to get left to whomever I desire as a coordinate set[s] for the inheiritor to go out and dig up...

We had never previously crossed paths, but she immediately told me that she has personal access to net assets of $100,000 and that she makes $68,000 a year.

That is the rich?

“He has always benefited from low taxation on his investment income, for instance.”

The horror. To those who don’t know, the lower you tax investment income the more of it you get. And that includes taxes. It’s a volume thing.

The fact that Millionaires often, if not mostly, treat us like crap has convinced me that conservatives should stop wasting our political capital on trying to keep their tax rates low.

If these assholes want lower taxes, the FIRST THING they can do is STOP ATTACKING TRUMP, and the second thing they can do is START SUPPORTING REPUBLICANS, and supporting America (knee-takers, take notice please).

I wouldn’t mind a 20% surtax on ALL earnings over $500k in a calendar year...let’s give them what they seem to want so badly - a party that taxes the crap out of them.
