In an email to the student body last week, University of Florida President Kent Fuchs expressed befuddlement at his recent discovery that the public university must allow free speech.
If you are like me, I expect you are surprised and even shocked to learn that UF is required by law to allow Mr. Spencer to speak his racist views on our campus, Fuchs wrote in a statement alerting students that Richard Spencer, a prominent white nationalist, will be visiting campus on October 19.

He’s an advocate for white males. So I am sure the beta cucks on this site don’t like him.
I am not surprised that he is surprised. Not to excuse his gnorance but He was probably confused by the fact that public government funded universities are subject to constitutional laws that restrain the government. Private universities are not subject to the same constitutional laws. That same confusion is seen in some on Free Republic and not just the 1st Amendment but the 2nd Amendment as well.
Or he does understand the difference and his confusion is over why he must abide by the 1st.
When I was at the University of Texas at Austin in the 1970s, Atheist leader Madalyn Murray O’Hair would come to speak and say the most offensive (not just to Christians) comments about any number of topics, punctuated with curse words.
As a young Christian, I wanted to hear her point of view so that, in the future, I could be able to refute some of it. IMO, a college campus was the place to have wide-open discussions of every viewpoint, even ones that were highly incredible or offensive. I wasn’t afraid to hear viewpoints contrary to mine. My belief was that the truth would eventually win the day. I kept calm and allowed everyone to speak their view.
Such a shame college campuses can’t be as open today as we were then.
The rabid inflammatory language coming out of Leftist Identity Politics had caused people like Richard Spencer to react. Spencer’s reaction has justified their abridgement of freedom, which is what the Left will do to all Americans when they get rule. These rulers in our universities are showing us what they will do. The Founders knew all of this. That’s why the First Amendment cannot be abridged.
Spencer is continually attacked for alleged racism. Hope to see a factual and impartial analysis of what, if anthing, he has done that is racist.

A product of the late 60’s and early 70’s, when protests were advocated. Now that they are in positions of power, they believe that they won all arguments and that everyone opposing their point of view, or supporting our Republic must shut up.
Funny. So did I. Junior High in the Bronx 1974-76.
