Millions of Americans have applauded the NFL players who have taken a knee during the national anthem, but not the women whose job it is to root for the teams — the cheerleaders.
They have been noticeably absent from the year-long drama that has divided football fans and outraged President Donald Trump and their reasons range from not wanting to undermine the team — to not wanting to lose their prized spot on the squad.
"Definitely the financial compensation isn’t high enough where you’re concerned about paying rent … but certainly if you’re creating waves you could lose your spot,” Danetha Doe, a two-season Indianapolis Colts cheerleader, told NBC News.
Kara Kay cheered for the then-San Diego Chargers from 2011 to 2014, said not much would be gained if she or the other cheerleaders joined in the protest.
"I think football players kind of represent their own entity as well as their team," Kay said. "We’re representing the coach and the team. It’s not like a single entity. If I kneel, no one knows my name."
Melanie Brown, who was a cheerleader for the Seattle Seahawks for six seasons and the Chargers for one, said maintaining that sense of unity is ingrained into a cheerleaders' role. She, as well as Doe and Kay, said they saw themselves as ambassadors for their teams.

When I played High School basketball, We’d take turns making an errant pass towards the cheerleaders for the other team, so a player would ‘dive’ and try to save the ball. Only once or twice a game. And it had to be planned properly so it looked accidental.

That’s just it. The cheerleaders have a very strict code. One mess up and they’re out. The players can do anything from fight dogs to beating their gf to dealing illegal drugs and they get a pay raise. In these days of fairness, something is off. Again, it goes back to women and men’s paygrades.

In other headlines - “tens of Millions of NFL fans have boo’ed the protesting players, and turned off the game”.
NBC forgot Jack Welch’s number one saying... The business of business is business... Pander to the fringe, get the fringe as your only viewrers..
If the call one hundred people in a poll and get one approval that equates to three million people. “Millions” can be a pretty small number in a country of 300 million.
College ball needs to shift some games to Sundays.
Millions of broke, government leeching, cop-hating SJWs are sure digging it. Paying customers, not so much.
