Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse issued a statement asking President Trump is he is recanting the oath he took to defend and uphold the Constitution after Trump suggesting revoking the licenses of network news organizations.
Mr. President: Words spoken by the President of the United States matter, the Republican senator wrote in a statement. Are you tonight recanting of the oath you took on Jan. 20 to preserve, protect, and defend the 1st Amendment?
Sasses tweet came after Trump sparked backlash from both conservatives and liberals by saying he should censor certain news outlets.
Network news has become so partisan, distorted and fake that licenses must be challenged and, if appropriate, revoked. Not fair to public! Trump wrote.
With all of the Fake News coming out of NBC and the Networks, at what point is it appropriate to challenge their License? Trump asked in another tweet.

Even now are there any republicans condemning the last 8 years of ibama?
(cuck whining intensifies ... “ ... the 1st Amendment?)
If cuckservatives like Sasse are prepared to give up the 2nd, then all bets are off.
I’m organizing a Right Wing Death Squad band in my neighborhood: progressive rock, easy listening, available for weddings and bar mitzvahs.
OK. Now I’m on someone’s list ... NSA? Hello?
It wouldn’t hurt to make a law that mandates a Senator must spend 150 days of the year in his home-state, and require them not to travel outside of the US unless it’s to attend funerals.
President Trump is right that NBC is mostly fake news. They do lie. The coverup of Weinstein (their own reporter had to publish the story in The New Yorker) is proof of that. So is what they did to the George Zimmerman tape a few years ago (in the Trayvon Martin incident.) So the president is right that NBC is dishonest and fake.
However, do you remember when 0bama was harassing reporters like James Rosen, Sharyl Atkisson, some AP reporters, and others? We all rightly condemned it. And do you remember when he wanted to shut down talk radio and license journalists? We all rightly condemned this a a threat to the First Amendment.
It's one thing for Donald J. Trump, developer, to suggest that NBC should be shut down. It's another thing for the President of the United States, who is sworn to uphold the Constitution.
Let's assume that the president is right, that this story is false -- which I suspect it is. Does that mean NBC's "license should be pulled"?
For one thing, NBC or any other network doesn't have a broadcast license, the affiliates do. Your local NBC station is licensed to broadcast, not NBC. Stations, not networks. You would have to go after the broadcast licenses of the stations individually.
For another, licensing journalists is a dangerous concept. it enables the government to exercise a degree of control that at least flirts with trampling all over the First Amendment. And then what happens when the other side is back in power? Do you want the government licensing Rush Limbaugh (or refusing to do so)?
As a constitutionalist, I am wary of anything that smacks of the government controlling the media -- even when it's a government I like. I think that is dangerous and violates the First Amendment.
As a matter of principle, I'm not even sure the government ought to be licensing individual stations. Beyond playing traffic cop to make sure one station's transmissions don't interfere with another station's transmissions, I don't really want the government involved at all. (Some of that may be related to the fact that I don't trust government as far as I can throw a piano.)
I sympathize with President Trump's efforts to expose the bias, dishonesty, and fakery of the so-called "mainstream" media -- and believe me, it's rampant -- and NBC is one of the worst offenders. This exposure is important. But you can't hve the government threatening to use its power to shut down journalists it doesn't like.
A license is a priviledge, not a fracking right. NBC can keep using cable but is parent company might have to lose their license if they continue letting these jacka$$es abusing it.
Unless liberals want to dissolve the FCC... Ha! Hypocrites.
Hell - most of them probably look on Obama as “the good old days”....
Sasse...I think you have. Prosecute treason.
These licenses have been around for many years. Why hasn’t Sasse challenged them?
I tend to believe that “licensing” may itself be unconstitutional but it has probably judicially tested. How would revoking a license be in any way unconstitutional. It baffles me when SENATORS don’t get the constitution. I expect it from Dem-scums. But our guys are supposed to know better.
Don't need none of your sass...Mr Ass.
That said, I agree with your sentiments.
I dunno, if we are supposed to rethink the Second Amendment because (as the progressives say), the Founders could not envision the modern military technology we have today, then why not the 1st? I mean, they only had mechanical presses then the only form of remote communications at the time were lamps & signal fires (think Lord of the Rings).
Freedom does not necessarily mean license (P-T-P) to mislead
hahaha tumblindice you crack me up. I wanna join your squad. Do we get t-shirts?
Yes, pretty much. I’ve never really understood why we need permission from the government to conduct business.
What? no heavy metal polka?
Sasse needs to study the law more.
Not at all overrated. Just has limits, that’s all.
Media and Ben Sasse need to learn this.
If the networks are protected under the first amendment why do they need licensing from FCC?
Absolutely! S(ASS)E is right!
The only person in America who may not have an opinion is the President!
