Campos was shot about six minutes before the suspect opened fire on the crowd at the Harvest Festival. After Campos was shot, he didn't call the police, he instead radioed down to the hotel for help. Assistant Sheriff Fasulo said that's standard protocol in the hotel industry.

It is "standard protocol" after being shot and enduring a firing spree of 200 rounds to radio only hotel staff and not call the police? Ridiculous.

The hotel calls the police.

Campos should have called the police. He IS the hotel. No need for a middle man in circumstances like this.

It is common sense and should have been part of his training.

as security guard 15 years ago we were not allowed our phone on the job, just radio. I suppose times have changed, but I know some one who today works in a bank that has been robbed before and they cannot have their phone on the bank floor, just in their locker or wherever break rom is.

Okay, the security guard was shot before the mass shooting? How is that possible? Am I reading this wrong?

I would guess the 98% of the working population has a cell phone on them while working. To strip security guards of cell phones when time is of the essence is a very bad idea.

Yes, I realize that cell phones can be a distraction, especially when someone has a boring job like a security guard. But it will not be acceptable to the public to learn (if you are correct) that security guards were stripped of cell phones while working. When a situation is bad enough, allow the security guard to exercise discretion and call the police.

It has occurred to me that the “200 round” burst of fire that allegedly hit the security guard is odd. That would mean the shooter had to fire nearly seven full magazines. Did he shoot seven different rifles? Did he take time to reload a single rifle seven times? I’m not aware that 200 round drum magazines are available. I’ve seen 150 round drums... that would still mean the shooter changed drum mags just to shoot this one guy. Something is peculiar about this part of the story, too.

Hotel rules state “Call us first”. But I would have dialed 911 immediately afterwards.
I used to work at a motel.

Of course that's the protocol.

This guy doesn't even know what the hell is going on and he goes into shock when hit.

Just think about what happens when you take a fall...There's a blank space..."no memory" between here and here.

It probably took a minute to recover from this "hit" and make the call and of course the desk would be a direct and the fastest call with the most info on his location in the hotel.

Is LE trying to cover for the hotel to protect it from lawsuits?

“The hotel did everything OK”?

I’ve been pretty skeptical of the “200 Rounds” claim also.

Did he think there was SWAT team out there - or one guy who would be warded of by 2-3 shots?

Also - is the picture of the double door (the one with the second door laying on its side) - is that the door he supposedly fired though? Or was this another door that we haven’t seen?

I sense another revision coming!!!

If the hotels routinely permit arms/drug deals to go down on their premises; while skimming part of the profits and laundering them as gambling
wins,

and if the feds know about this and condone it (and sometimes use
it for stings),

then the feds and the hotels are going to do everything possible to cover that up.

MOO, of course.

Looks like hotel staffers failed to timely call the police.

There are 100 round 223 magazines. The perp ran off ~100 round bursts in the audios from youtube videos.

The pic of the suite entrance at the end of the hall doesn’t show 200 holes in either direction.

Easy peasy....Count the holes in the door.

The SWAT team used explosives to breach the door.

No point having them if you can't use them as a fashion accessory for the TactiCool™ uniforms!

The hotel did everything OK. Calling 9-11 would have caused a further delay....getting that extra info that they want...What's your name, where are you, are you injured, do you need an ambulance, blah blah blah.....

And calls are going to 9-11 as soon as people realize they're gun shots.

There were 3 additional defining calls....

1. A man in a room down the hall on 32nd fl reports gun shots...they tell him to stay put

2. Man on 31st fl says shooter is right above him.

Man on ground identifies shooters location from flashes.

It's a miracle that it only lasted 10 minutes.

Those employees on his floor sure messed up his schedule...and his head with the final shot.

He could have booby trapped the place. Could have been a whole lot worse.

“The hotel did everything OK.”

Do you know when the hotel notified the police and what was communicated when they did?
