Colonel Who Reported Communist Cadet Slams West Point Leadership
dailycaller.com ^ | Patrick Granger

Posted on 10/12/2017 3:39:59 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

Retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Robert Heffington issued an open letter to West Point graduates earlier this week blasting the superintendent, commandant, and dean of the military academy for contributing to a “culture of permissiveness.”

The letter was subsequently posted on the website of American Military News.

Heffington told The Daily Caller he wrote the letter to the USMA Class of 1963 when several of its graduates contacted him asking how Spenser Rapone, a cadet espousing radically anti-American views, was allowed to graduate. (RELATED: Communist West Point Grad Was Reported In 2015 For Anti-American Posts)

“The Superintendent refuses to enforce admissions standards or the cadet Honor Code, the Dean refuses to enforce academic standards, and the Commandant refuses to enforce standards of conduct and discipline,” the letter charges. “The end result is a sort of malaise that pervades the entire institution.”

Heffington’s eye-opening letter describes systemic problems at West Point that he says have led to a decline in honor, standards and meritocracy. The end result of said neglect, according to the lieutenant colonel, is a current “embrace of mediocrity.”

“Every fall, the Superintendent addresses the staff and faculty and lies,” he asserts. “He repeatedly states that ‘We are going to have winning sports teams without compromising our standards,’ and everyone in Robinson Auditorium knows he is lying because we routinely admit athletes with ACT scores in the mid-teens across the board.”

Did any of your ‘youthful indiscretions’ involve being admitted to West Point as an avowed Communist? Did they involve swearing an oath to a country you wish to see die and being given a Commission as an Officer in that county’s military?

We’re not talking about getting your girlfriend pregnant or stealing car radios or getting a DUI... We’re talking about the security of the United States here.

Yes. It’s cultural Marxism (led by The Frankfurt School adherents).

It’s been indoctrinated into our innocent children in our pubic schools since the 60’s. Then on TV. Then in our colleges & universities. Then in our companies by college-brainwashed HR minions.

We now see its bitter fruits everywhere — unions, Democrat party, MSNBC, Target restrooms, BLM, military schools, NFL, Biy Scouts of America.

Affirmative Action.... We must meet our AA goals, that is the top priority. Anything else can be sacrificed.

That’s basically it, in a nutshell.

Diversity for the sake of diversity is toxic. We have seen gerrymandering of congressional districts in favor of monioity candidates, and look at the results (Guam is going to tip over). Standards have been comprised at our military academies, at our secondary schools, at our colleges and universities and in our workplaces all for the sake of diversity and perceived equality.

As a nation we have sacrificed excellence on the altar of equality. We are reaping what we sowed.

Imagine going into battle, being led by any of these 16 harpies.

This is a disgrace to the West Point uniform and to West Point.

I can’t even recall anything remotely similar even in the 1970s.

Maybe. When I was in the Army, one of my team mates and a supposed friend ratted me out for having a knife that was not regulation and the slide to a Glock 21. I got an article 15, lost stripes, lost money, and was put through hell by my chain of command and NCO support channel until I finally got out (honorably). To this day, I have a hard time giving a shiite about Army affairs.

Imagine going into battle, being led by any of these 16 harpies.

Or by 2LT Che.

Or worse, not knowing whether Ell-Tee is a competent, patriotic American or is one of these poltroons.

It casts doubt on the entire chain of command, including NCOs. Frightening.

There are at least two ideologies that are incompatibile with the US Constitution. communism and a certain middle-eastern death cult. Anyone who follows them is unfit for public office and the military.

RC,

As an ‘old grad’ I see it somewhat differently. It is not a matter that a young man may have made a mistake, it is the degradation of standards at the academy that troubles me. With the paper trail that exists, there is no way he should have ever graduated let alone been put in charge of a platoon of soldiers. I know that this mess troubles many more old grads than just me. This needs to be fully and truthfully addressed ASAP.

In the words of the Superintendent:
"I ask that you help me prevent the negativity associated with the alleged behavior of one graduate from causing us to lose sight of the thousands of graduates who sacrifice and serve honorably every day."

This was exactly the wrong statement. Unless the images are from Photoshop, there is little doubt about the actions, the intent, or the seriousness. Communism is an evil, totalitarian, and anti-American ideology. This Obama-clone should have been expelled, as should others who systematically fall short of standards. Officers are role models, whether we choose that they be positive or negative role models. In this case and in far too many others, all I can say about the Superintendent and about our military leadership is . . .

This letter upsets me more than I can express. They should sentence everyone in command responsible for allowing this to happen to death by firing squad. This is beyond disgraceful, this is willful, intentional subversion of one of the Army’s finest institutions.

"....by replacing the entire senior command structure at the service academies."

How do the service academies "fit" into the military chain of command?? Is not the President commander-in-chief over them as well as the regular services??

The letter states "....started about ten years ago", which sounds about right for the onset to coincide with the Obama presidency.

No coincidences in politics.

Leftist plant or more are at West Point.

Someone had to make decisions to not look at social media or parental backgrounds or to see leftist red flags and choose to ignore them.

Would Mattis be in charge of correcting this?

Folks need to be fired.

As a non-West Point grad....an observation:

It appears that West Point went into the toilet when they started allowing women to attend.

Agree with your comments regarding degradation of standards. To read that those with ACT scores in the mid-teens are allowed into the USMA is hard to comprehend.

I'm sure that a big part of the reason I got an Army ROTC scholarship in '72 was my ACT score in the high 20s. ACT scores are not a be all, end all, but test scores have always played a huge role in admissions.
